So'ton - no league wins in 12.

This is in the same ballpark as the Brighton match - must win.

And I think we can.
And we all know how the Albion like to give such teams a hand-up dont we !!

I think with an almost full house, the noise level with or without those clappy things, and the 'Cyrille' build up before the game, I fancy us tomorrow.
That said, they score first and it goes to rat $hit

If I was Pardew I'd get the team by the tunnel for when the scarf thing takes place and tell them what the day means to the fans.

Any news on the fitness of Evans and Gibbs?

According to Physioroom Gibbs, Evans, Krychowiak,Livermore and HRK will all have late fitness tests. Don't know how factual it is though.

I was really hopeful heading into this one, but the closer it gets the more nervous I get.

It's an absolute must win.

It's a massive game so nerves will be normal.

Coventry won their game in which they celebrated "Cyrille". Hopefully we can follow on from that.

For me it has to be JRod and Sturridge up front saturday, they two are more likely to get us the goals we need. Rondon just doesnt score emough goals
Agree with this Glyn, how can Rodriguez be dropped? Laughable!

If I was Pardew I'd get the team by the tunnel for when the scarf thing takes place and tell them what the day means to the fans.

Absolutely no way I would do that. I would have spoken about the emotion of the occasion days ago in training.  Tomorrow I would want the players completely focused on the game. I wouldn't risk the players getting swept up.

As for the game. Another must win in my opinion, both this and Huddersfield are. Anything less than 6 points from those, and I think we are running out of games. A loss, is obviously even worse, not just because of the points but because it will completely kill our momentum and the believe amongst the fans. Both of which we amazingly seem to have at the minute, despite being bottom!

Sold out. Just goes to show what happens when you appoint a manager who tries to be positive, sign a striker of some pedigree and don't impose stupid category A prices. It gets the fans excited and involved. should have happened far sooner.

Foster

Dawson

Evans/McAuley
Gibbs/Nyom

Phillips
Barry
Krychowiak
Brunt

Sturridge
Rondon

Subs. Myhill McAuley Nyom McClean Yacob Rodriguez Burke
Come on Jacko that is really taking the P**s. Leaving out Rodriguez is definitely out of order, although I think AP may do it. Not for me, now that we have proper alternative, Rondon should be benched.

Is Sturridge fit enough to start, given that he hadn't played since December prior to Wednesday night?

Haha how can it be out of order but in the next breath the manager may do it?

Sturridge is better than Rodriguez. Rondon is better than Rodriguez. We're not a charity. We have to give ourselves the best chance of winning after Wednesday's no show.

I made this point earlier in the week, most people seem to be willing to rush him to big minutes instead of working him up to speed.

"A is better than B" arguments will be just that, arguments. Personally who starts comes down to who is in form. Right now you put Rodriguez at the top of that list because his recent scoring streak trumps everything else Rondon has done. Then it comes to down to Rondon vs Sturridge and, for this week, I'd give Rondon the nod because I believe we should bring Daniel up to speed at a decent pace (not rush him). He came in at the 78th minute on Wednesday, bring him in at around 60 minutes this time around. Then with a good week of rest you can start him next week at Chelsea.

Indeed, it's a dilemma isn't it? On the one hand we need him in the side playing 90 minutes and scoring goals as soon as possible, but the flip side is that we don't want him injured again and unable to play at all. It has all the hallmarks of a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.
