West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Next Manager Thread
« on: November 22, 2017, 10:27:06 AM »
Just having the prospect of our football improving (aesthetically) with the appointment of a new manager is enough for me, regardless of results.

Sounds weird, but that's how I honestly feel at the moment.

Dobra dobra! Garn our Greg!

Sky sources; @PSG_EngIish's @GrzegKrychowiak arrives in England for medical ahead of loan move to @WBA. #SSN

Looking increasingly likely, ladies & gents!?

So they've lost Ndlovu & Phelan,

Merson has "predicted" yet another loss for us (as he always does). How many points would we be on if all of his "predictions" about us were correct I wonder? .... 9-10 points max I reckon!  :o  ;D

Welcome to the Baggies, big man!

I've only seen the guy play on Sky Sports during his time at Malaga, and he is quality.

Can't wait to see him unleashed!

Just to let you all know I've been told that there's a good chance they may introduce him to the crows tonight.

A big welcome to the newest recruit of the Night's Watch... Ser Salomon!

I'd be happy with that (as long as he's not being signed to replace Saido)!

After 55 years watching the baggies from the Halfords i now watch all the games live on TV from beautiful Northern Thailand,

Someone's got the right idea!

As for me: Born in Dudley Rd hospital, raised in Great Barr and (Royal ;) )Sutton Coldfield, and Sutton is where I live to this day. Awful lot of Villa fans in these parts, but they're oh so quiet nowadays...

His signing provides another solid (but not spectacular) option up-front...

Welcome to the Albion, Georgio (and good luck)!

Samaras would be a useful addition in my opinion. Good in the air, has good feet for a big man (to trot out the old cliché), and holds the ball up well most of the time bringing others in to play. There's also a large Greek community in the West Mids, Birmingham in particular which would help settle the lad in the area should he move to our club.

All in all, I'd be quite happy with this signing.

CL has tweeted saying there has been more then 50 applicants for the job in the past 2 days...and he said the Albion job isn't attractive anymore last night  :D

Well that all depends on who's applied doesn't it?!  ;D

I voted for Moyes because I'm an optimistic sort (even for all matters Albion!). But aside from the "Chosen One" I think Martin Jol, re-energised from a shmoke and a pancake, would be a fantastic appointment purely because of his experience and Premier League success as a manager (oh, and he speaks English  ???)

"Moneyball" this ain't, so Terry's appointment is a step in the right direction for sure! We missed that bit of footballing nous needed in this role since the departure of Dan Ashworth.

I voted for Sess as my MOTM just above Amalfitano. His pace and running on the ball was a constant worry for the opposition, and his runs off the ball dragged their defenders out of position to create space for goal scoring opportunities (Morgan's goal being the notable example). That long ball he controlled near the half way line, before turning in one fluid motion to leave his markers for dead to charge forward was a moment of pure quality!

I'm not the first person to say this, and I'm certainly not going to be the last: I sincerely hope Lawro continues to bet against us because we almost always prove him wrong. He's kind of like our fuzzy little rabbits' foot ay he?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: How happy with Clarke are you?
« on: September 03, 2013, 11:28:21 AM »
Is there much difference between Clarke and Hodgson when you look at their records?
Hodgson P50 W18 D13 L19  PTS 67
Clarke    P41  W14 D8 L19   PTS 50

Yes 17 points difference but Clarke is still 9 games behind.

It's not so much Clarke's overall record compared to Uncle's that worries me, specifically. That stat is misleading somewhat because much of Clarke's points gained came from our barnstorming start to the beginning of last season.

Our form since new year, however, has been that of a team that will be RELEGATED. We can't sugar coat this alarming slump any longer, Clarke has now been backed in the transfer market and it's now up to him to deliver results with a squad that is more than capable of avoiding relegation.

If not, and results continue in the same vane I fear his head will be the one that's rolling out the exit door sooner rather than later.

This deal looks like it's coming together. One in and one out if Odemwingie joins Cardiff. I'd be pretty happy with that piece of business. I really can't understand why Sunderland would ship out SS - he seems to have been their best player over the last two years.

It does look like it's coming together. A further indication that Sessegnon is on his way out of Sunderland are reports that they are lining up Fabio Borini on loan.

As they have been rumoured to have been interested all summer the optimist in me hopes this means we have a replacement lined up ;)

Hopefully Stephane Saucisson  ;D
