Women's football is getting bigger hopefully our Women can get the right investment so one day they can get a crowd of 3,000 to turn up at The Hawthorns.

I fear this is unlikely, the men's team doesn't get the right investment let alone the women's  ;D

Abion beat Lincoln Utd 4-1 in the second round of the Women's FA Cup on Sunday, with goals from Stamps, Gallop, Greaves and Walklett (her first for the club following her recent signing). We've been drawn at home to Long Eaton Utd in the third round, who play one tier below us. The game will be played on Dec 12th.

This latest victory means that we've now scored 23 goals in our last 4 games!

Our next game is this Sunday at home to Cheltenham in the second round of the Women's National League Plate.

The fact Long Eaton United ate only 1 division below us tells you how little investment there has been in the side.

Not necessarily. We're in the women's equivalent of League 1, along with clubs such as Fylde, Brighouse Town and Loughborough Lightning, as well as Wolves, Derby, Forest, Stoke and Middlesbrough. The women's Championship features Lewes, Durham and London City Lionesses, so I don't think you can make too many comparisons between women's clubs and their men's professional equivalents with regard to the level the former play at.

I think it's more a question of where well-run women's clubs have been set up, which could be anywhere really and quite a lot aren't affiliated with men's professional clubs at all, including some which appear that they would be at first glance, such as Fulham LFC, Sheffield FC and Coventry Utd.

Playing in the same tier as Long Eaton are Leeds, Newcastle, QPR, Norwich, Southampton and Bournemouth, not to mention that famous old club - Hashtag Utd;D

Albion won their 3rd Round FA Cup tie 5-1 against Long Eaton yesterday, so we are now in this evening's draw for the 4th Round. The goals were scored by Gallop 2, Walklett 2 and Dugmore.

Avoided the top clubs and have instead drawn Exeter or Southampton- both of which are in the division below us. Still in with a chance of drawing a side like Blues or Villa next round.

Our Ladies Team will make history on 6th March by playing a competitive game against Derby at the Hawthorns.

COYB!!!!

How about boycotting attending the men's team and, instead, turning up in numbers to support our Women's team?  8)

I would have but already had something on. I feel the club have done a poor job of advertising it, they probably should have pushed this more than they have. Local media have done a poor job too.

I will be going. Looking at the booking plan the club are using three blocks of the Halfords Lane Stand and these seats are pretty much full.

It could be a difficult game for the team. Derby are currently 2nd in the league and their squad includes a few players with experience from a higher level - Nikki Miles and Jade Formaston (both from Coventry United who play in the Women's Championship) and Precious Hamilton (who has played at the Super League level).

The West Brom squad has added Hayley Crackle to their ranks this week. Hayley is an experienced defender that has been signed from Coventry United and previously played at Aston Villa.

Let's hope it is a good game.

Many congratulations to our West Bromwich Albion Women's team, who beat a very decent Derby team that are second in the league and were 20 points ahead of us in the league at the start of the game.

A big scalp and in front of 1,800 supporters I believe.

These results damage the women’s game. The most successful are piggybacking off the men’s clubs. There are already elite women’s teams. There’s no level playing field. It’s a farce.

I believe it was a knockout competition, the opposition were several leagues lower than WBA Women.
League games are high scoring, but are much more closely contested.
If it was easy, it wouldn't be Albion

New gaffer in place

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Siobhan Hodgetts as the new Head Coach of our women's first team!
She steps up from within the current coaching staff to replace outgoing boss Jenny Sugarman, who has departed to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. 💙🤍
