Watching Matej Vydra scoring for Viktoria Pilzen against Man Utd (well done lad). Unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Only 32, seems like he's been around forever.

I was quite upset when we signed him, but in fairness he never let us down as far as I can recall

Mozza has found a midfield gem!

https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2024/12/20/albion-hero-james-morrison-hailed-for-north-east-recruitment-work-to-unearth-midfield-talent/

West Brom hero James Morrison hailed for north-east recruitment work to unearth midfield talent
Former Albion star and academy coach James Morrison has been praised for bringing promising youngster Matt Crowther from the north-east to The Hawthorns.

Darlington-born Morrison spotted and arranged for central midfielder Crowther, who is just 16, to come to Albion at under-16 age group last season having been playing grassroots football in the north-east of the country.

The rangy, left-footed Crowther, who despite his years stands at 6ft 1ins, caught the eye with his first Premier League 2 goal at The Hawthorns on Monday night as Richard Beale's under-21s side saw off Reading 3-1.

It was just Crowther's second goal for the under-21s but the teen is already earning rave reviews and is well thought of. Boss Beale revealed Morrison - who played 341 times for Albion between 2007 and 2019 and is now on the staff - was behind the midfielder's emergence and labelled Crowther "a real find".

"Everybody in the football club should be a recruiter - for the first team and the academy," Beale told the Express & Star.

"In this instance it was Mozza. He is from where Mozza's from and he knows him, I think as a family friend. It's absolutely brilliant from Moz to get him in because he's a real find and good lad.

"So not only was Mozza a top-drawer player, he is a top recruiter! It came about through James Morrison's contacts up north."

Dwight Gayle has said to the BBC that he's likely to retire at end of this season as his body's beginning to break down. Currently playing for Hibernian

Only saw him in fits and starts after he went back to Newcastle and signed his new contract. From what I witnessed on the whole I think we proved to be his last decent season. Still, he and his family are set up for life and I wish him all the best.

I wasn't aware he was manager or how long he has been there but Richard Sneekes is managing Rushall Olympic who are bottom of the National League North, I believe Ex Baggie Youth Sam Mantam/Om was playing for them

Sneekes playing up but has offered a full apology.

https://www.rofc.co.uk/news/club-statement-20012025

Rushall Olympic FC and manager, Richard Sneekes, would like to apologise whole-heartedly for a phrase used during his post-match interview following Saturday’s 7-0 defeat at Spennymoor Town.

Amidst an otherwise very measured and honest assessment of the performance straight after the final whistle, the manager used the phrase; ‘like a Holocaust’.

No offence was meant, but the manager recognises that this was a poor analogy and would like to apologise to anyone who was upset or offended by it.

“I can only apologise for my choice of words,” he said. “No offence or harm was intended whatsoever.

“World War II is engrained in the history of my country; my grandad was in a concentration camp and both of my parents were born at the height of the War, so I know what it means.

“It was a bad choice of phrase linking to a time in history which was beyond terror and I would like to reiterate my sincerest of apologies. I will consider my choice of words more carefully in the future.”

As a club we received no direct complaints to the after-match comment. The only feedback we received, and not just from Rushall supporters, was how well and constructively the manager spoke so soon after a heavy defeat for his side. Someone has deemed it necessary to raise this complaint to the local press and hence our Statement on this matter.

The club will be making no further comment.

holocaust means slaughter on a mass scale, the term has only been associated with WW2 since then. so Sneekes was actually not being ofensive (technically !!)

I mean i'm not crying over it but it's just a bit of a daft thing to say.

For the record both my grandads fought in WW2 and survived thankfully. My Polish grandad was put in Nazi camps too, just a bit brainless that comment.

BBC’s piece on the Odemwingie deadline day drama.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/videos/cgrn5qdypl5o

My understanding of it was that we had allowed him to drive down at least. Seems that actually wasn’t the case.

I do remember at the time someone on here questioning how Redknapp had been able to comment on Odemwingie being a “lovely lad” as he shouldn’t have been able to speak to him!

I'm sure I remember something to do with Junior Hoylett being part of the deal and him not wanting to come so it got called off as Odemwingie was travelling down.
To be honest I doubt we'll ever get to know the truth of what actually happened.
I'm not sure I'd trust Rednapp's version of events though.
