I still think his value has been inflated to placate fans who will soon be seeing players leaving

Time will tell but perhaps they thought sign a new player, for more than fans expect to lift hopes a little, salavage a few season tickets THEN do the player sales?

I actually felt sympathy for Wolves fans about the season ticket prices. I also grew up considering Villa as our enemies rather than Blues or Wolves, who weren't worthy of my scorn. However Wolves's ascendancy while we declined year on year has caused me grief and I look forward for signs that our fortunes will soon be reversed. Hence my scrutiny of this transfer....

I know it's petty but Wolves are allegedly signing a £12.7m Portuguese player called Rodrigo Gomes on a 5 year contract but I suspect he's a free transfer and the £12.7m is his wages. It's all smoke and mirrors and I look forward to their further decline......

I think you were right first time. I read that the £12.7m is his wages cost over 5 years. This equates to a measly £49k per week. Hard life isnt it?!?

The Dingle meltdown is brilliantly entertaining.

Part of it is fuelled by the totally unjustifiable season ticket hike, I get that, they actually have my sympathy, but a lot of it comes from their ingrained unrealistic expectations.

So many bought into the idea Fosun were going to take them to the champions league and beyond "its part of their business plan" is something I saw a well known Wolves twitter personality once say.

None of them ever questioned why the worlds biggest football agent and his business partners at Fosun would keep bringing their top young players to Wolves - it couldnt possibly have anyrhing to do with selling them further down the line.

PSR has come along and the fact Wolves were spending copious amounts of money previously means they now need to sell. They have made about 90m in sales this summer, but they have spent nearly 30m, might be obligated to spend another 25m on top of that and will still likely make signings in the final week in the £15m-£20m range.

Lots of "Fosun out" and "Sell the club" stuff going around from a club that doesnt realise the next chancer wont have the same Mendes links Fosun have.

They have 2 Brazil internationals, a Spain international, a load of Portugal internationals and no finish lower than 14th in their 7 year prem spell, two 7th place finishes and a Europa league quarter final, but yeah, Fosun out because they wont spend £80m every season. Dingles all over

It's a very rare day indeed when I watch Wolves if they're not playing us. Noticed they were 2-3 down and so I decided to have a watch. By the time I'd actually tuned in it was 2-5. From what I saw all those millions they've been spending since their takeover really haven't amounted to much at all. Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

They have a goalie and a centre back from Albion that we were not that bothered about selling and have not particularly missed ...makes me think the gulf in the two squads is not as great as the difference in monetary cost

We maybe don't miss Johnstone now but we did when Bruce decided Button was a better option than Palmer.

What do they expect? It would be the same for us and any team in the Premier League. The best to hope for is mid-table mediocracy. The Premier League is for the mega rich. All other teams are just making up the numbers. All a bit pointless. I prefer the Championship by far.

It's because Wolves fans genuinely bought into the idea they were on a journey to Champions League football, when their reality was the same as it was for the other 13-14 prem clubs - its about survival and existing for the majority of the time.

They still have a great squad full of internationals, a good manager should keep them up.

All that money and they're only one place above us in the football pyramid. What was it they kept spitting about mind the gap? Whatever it was I bet they're not spitting it now.

Bottom place in the PL table is too good for the Dings. Dawson contributing to their downfall with OG deflections in their last 2 games. Need Johnstone to start throwing a few in now . The promoted teams will throw them a lifeline, but just maybe.......................

There is an air of our 2017/18 season about them; gone stale, poor transfers, not really looking like the sum of their parts.

Honestly the financial gap between them and the promoted teams should be enough to keep them up, but they've lost Neto, on top of all the decent players they've let go.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see them drop.

Give them a couple of months of SJ not getting anywhere near crosses and they'll go insane.  The pattern hasn't set in yet.

I can’t believe I’m saying it but I have a little sympathy with them today. They battled really well and to lose it in the last minute of extra time to a controversial goal is a bit harsh. I doubt many will agree with me though. 😀
