It's nothing football. The focus is on not losing possession rather than scoring.

Ala Pulis?

Look at our start

9 Players out the 11 were here before Carlos arrived. Since that team was changed and CC's signings into the team its gone all stale and we have players who have padded the squad again. It looks disjointed. But having said that we should have been 1 up in the 1st half today but 2 goals in 5 at home is very poor, and no win in 6.

CC needs to answer this, football doesn't have goodwill forever and he needs to try something a bit different as a plan b

Ala Pulis?

I don't think it's that bad 😂. At least we were solid with it

We were top a few games ago. We have been dragged down to 5th and way off the points.

Pulis gave it no thought, just a table football setup, cap on and shout.  CC seems to overthink.  It's not chess, it's football, you need some spontaneity.

The end result isn't that different though, players who look frit.

So we are very good at controlling the flow of the game and limiting the opponent to very few clear cut chances a game, but we are also lacking the ability to turn that into chances of our own and when we do get a chance we are not burying them.  So a few questions come to mind:
1. Is Maja the real thing or did he just have a lucky streak in the first few games? In fairness, the service he has been given lately is almost non existent so I won't be too quick to judge just yet.
2. Opponents have figured out how to neuter Fellows.  He needs to learn a few new tricks.  I cannot remember the last time he both left a defender for dead and then put in a great cross.  He's still young, of course, but for the time being he is not very effective.
3. Diangana is constantly guilty of either doing too much or stopping and making a weak play, so just about everything he does comes to a disappointing end.
3. None of the other attacking players seem to be on the same page with each other. I cannot fault Grant's or Johnston's energy and desire or Swifts finesse but when they do something, its like nobody has any idea what to do to complement or support it.
So the opposing managers have too easy a time of it: let West Brom control the play because they are going to anyway, but don't worry about it.  Chances are they won't get anywhere with it.
I'm afraid to say it but it Corberan's job to sort this put and he hasn't yet.

We will have good results, we will have some bad, but 12 games in and I think I’ve seen enough to say we will not make the play offs this year. We are decent knocking it around in midfield, but we are too shaky at the back, and not enough threat going forwards.
Amongst all the expected negativity, this was one comment I didn't expect to see. We have conceded 7 goals in 12 games (and 3 of those were in one game). Today, the other lot didn't have a single shot on target. I'm as frustrated as everyone else that the goals have dried up, but shaky at the back? Good grief.

We have played several lower half teams. What will CC do when we meet top half teams? He doesn't seem to have any clear ideas.

Your memory is playing tricks on you I think. When did you ever see a Pulis side have 19 shots in a game?  :o

I’m not having the criticism of CC on today’s performance. As far as I could tell he didn’t race on the pitch and miss an easy header or pass the ball out for a throw in when only 10yds out  and on and on and on. Willing to bet we made as many good chances today first half especially as we have in any other home game . Add to this losing both starting centre halves to injury and it was vital to not lose rthe game by trying to win it late on.
Anybody that lays todays results at CCs door needs to give their heads a wobble imo
Not sure how serious Semis or Bartleysminjury is but don’t fancy facing Luton’s paratroop division with Holgate & Heggem as CBs and Mini Me Styles at FB !

when did you see a Pulis side have 19 shots in a season that weren’t from a set piece?

Haha, yes very true. Well, actually I'm not sure it was technically true, but it certainly felt like that.

We’ve conceded few in spite of how shaky we are. Let’s not pretend QpR should have scored more, or stoke, or Plymouth or Cardiff when Robinson missed two sitters today.

I understand what has happened, but we’ve got away with a lot too IMO.

We may disagree,  but I see what I see and I think over 12 games we are very lucky to be where we are and I don’t think over a season we will get away with it

We played okay and the match stats back that up.  Cardiff are an average side full of confidence  we are an above average side lacking confidence and it showed.

Very fair assessment. We all wish were were converting some of the draws into victories, but we aren't playing terribly by any means.

Ala Pulis?

This is nothing like Pulis football.

Pulis was never interested in possession of the ball. I would suggest he never managed a game where we had greater than 50%
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

Good job Cardiff weren't at the races they had three very good chances to win it late on.

Our wingers are being doubled up on and they can because we only have Maja forward.  Have to get players forward to occupy their centre backs.

Ideal time to move to a back three with three CBs injured and play with two forwards.

Two up front - Maja and Grant or Cole.

Injuries suddenly mounting up is a real concern.  Hopefully Barts back for Luton but Semi and McNair looks like after the international break.

I'd love to be a centre half coming to the Hawthorns. Defend in numbers, no one tries to turn you or go by you, no target man to deal with, just be ready to head the ball away when it eventually comes into our box. Unless, that is  the woeful Callum Styles is crossing it then you don't even have to do that.

The first half was fine. Swift should probably score, Furlong definitely should score. Second half, the same drivel we've become used to. Boring! Pass across the pitch, come back, go back the other side again.

Nothing changes. Personnel are replaced by others asked to do the same thing. Any head coach coming to the Hawthorns knows exactly what we're going to do!

Personally, I'd have put Cole on and gone two up top and started playing balls into the channels between the centre halves and the full backs. Get the defenders turning and running back towards their own goal, but no not Carlos.

Every team that comes to the Hawthorns their centre backs look like Cannavaro and Nesta.

Not good enough by a long shot. Carlos needs to sort this out because I'm becoming ever more frustrated and bored. Almost 5 hours without a goal at the Hawthorns and that spell doesn't really look like ending.

Set pieces - No point in us having corner kicks, none at all.

Fed up!

I was watching non League but it seems same story different day. Come on Carlos to many people you ay earned best Manager in the league for nothing show us something. At what point do we wonder is it Carlos or is it the Players being lazy either way we need to sort it the damn out. The only excuse and I don't believe this is the players believe for whatever reason we aren't good enough to go up automatically and think we could p**s the play offs. Hopefully something changes and soon this was supposed to be the season of our recoking. It is still early days and maybe we are getting our blip out the way and not doing a Leicester late on if we are we need to resume our progress when we were on the fly

We never had possession with Pulis we did long ball not this intricate stuff and it pains me to say this but sometimes that long ball is needed especially in this league

I'm not in the country so not able to watch the games.

Aside from the fact it's not good enough, we've had two clean sheets and Ajayi has had pelters after both. What's he done so bad within a clean sheet?

I can answer that. He’s made a plethora of errors in both games. Today he got injured trying to recover from a real cock up he had made.
