Don't know much of him but welcome to the club Ousmane.

Refreshing to see we SEEM to be leaving 30 year old UK players alone.

Even more refreshing that our recruitment team have discovered where they left their passports!

Really positive, club acting quickly, looking abroad. It's really positive that Red Bull Salzburg felt he was worth buying, their scouting operation is probably now the best in the world. He seems to have not made the level with them, but a good season at Hartberg is a positive. Really refreshing.

It's taken them too long in my view but i'm glad they have found them finally! Hopefully the start of a completely different transfer strategy.

Thanks for that. Most comments seem to suggest he's very good for his age, destined for bigger things but then an injury stopped him progressing.

If we can keep him fit then he should be more than capable at this level.

Good find Jimmy. The fact it was injuries that meant Salzburg releaaed him is a perverse positive. Lets hope he can stay injury free from this point forward as it feels like a really clever bit of business.

Where has this come from!

Now I like this kind signing. Let’s hope it’s back to the early prem days when we picked up gems from abroad for very little.

Played 1900 minutes for Hartberg last season so hopefully injury concerns are behind him. Very much a DM whether that is to play alongside Okay or replace him will only become clear as the window progresses.

Played for a team often that had a great season. A shock signing but this could be very interesting and all away from the morons like DOOD

Always best when we sign people out of the blue; it means we're maybe running a tight ship in terms of not letting other clubs (esp. The Vile) learn of out plans and outbid us.

Exactly who found him: CC's team or the recruitment team?

2 ACL blow outs by 23 is rough! Poor guy.

Hopefully all behind him, the new Mulumbu?  :D

Very happy to at least see us setting our sights beyond "championship experience" which has been a real handicap on the club for too long. Hopefully this is the way forward. Getting in good players is the real thing to crack in recruitment, but given our resources the best way forward is to try and get the kind of bargains that got us the likes of Koren/Dorrans/Mulumbu.

"SCOUTED
@scoutedftbl

We didn't see this one coming...

Ousmane Diakité is a top-level talent that would likely be playing at a European level right now were it not for devastating knee injuries. That history is the risk, but his dynamic, ball-winning, press-escaping skillset is the reward. Worth it.

This transfer hinges on health: he has been fit for the last 18 months at Hartberg, and the two-year contract shows its a big factor. If he is of the physical level, West Brom have banked a bargain. Diakité is the type of midfielder that pretty much every team could do with."

Probably not so out of the blue. He's 6ft 2in and likes a long ball apparently. With those characteristics in his locker we've most likely been stalking and monitoring him since the days of Tony Pulis  ;) .
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.
Oh, and always remember to defecate on those Vile chaps in claret and spew.

Never heard of him but pleased that we are thinking outside of the box. A good age with plenty of development left. I can see Yok moving on however.

Sounds good player to me
Would he replace Mowatt?
Alongside Okay?
