Its been posted on twitter a few times, but I enjoyed this description of Heggem from a QPR fan

Quote
This Baggies outfit is a big, athletic, uncompromising team. You’re wrestling with them right away, for everything, in every circumstance. I thought the summer departure of rush goalkeeper Cedric Kipre might have levelled the playing field in that regard, but they’ve replaced him with Torbjorn Heggem. Every year Norway has sent the UK a Christmas tree to show their gratitude for support in the Second World War. And here it was, four months early. Massive b*****d playing left back would you believe. Absolute liberty. Paul Smyth gave it his best swing, but it was pretty laughable at times, Heggem was twice the footballer physically and metaphorically. Smyth snu’d snu’d by the large fullback.

I’ve never forgiven Jonny Evans for that sly punch on Rosenberg in the run up to one of our goals at the BRE in the 5-5
Was really disappointed that Rosenberg didn’t happen here,at that time Anelka,Rosenberg.lugano….if they all clicked then wow

Totally agree on Scandinavian players, whilst it is a generalisation it feels that they settle in English football really well and we have done well with Scandi signings
Hagen looked really good on Saturday…Black Country Dan Burr

Personally speaking I was more miffed with Taxi Gate and his general attitude during our relegation season. Fair enough he had the chance to go to Manchester City but at the same time he had a contract with us which needed to be fulfilled. Getting back to our Norwegian Spruce it was a very promising debut. More of the same please Torbjorn  8) .
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Heggem just needs to cut out the odd silly pass but aside from that he's great. Well done again

Thought he did well today but the praise I've seen on X perhaps a little over the top?

Out of position, handled both wingers well but doesn't look fantastic on the ball.

Still, a very strong start.

If Anelka, Rosenberg and Lugano clicked?

They were easily some of the worse premier league players we had.

Lugano was a defender so if you're thinking it would have been another forward line that was going to smash all before them like last season's, then that wasn't going to happen.

I'd go as far as saying his performance at vile park is one of the worst performances by an Albion player I have ever seen, closely followed my KB and Button against Blues.

I thought he was steady. I give him full credit for playing a position that is not his. I would like to him as left centre half and get the Italian lad in but it's early days yet.

I don't think you can drop Ajayi or Bartley on today's showing.  This back 4 has done a good job so far.

Thought Heggem was steady today without being outstanding. Both CBs had better games in my humble

He was left CH out of possession in a three man central defence with Furlong and Fellows creating a back five.

In possession he became left back with Fellows left wing in a 433.

You can see he has the potential to be a top player, looks physically strong and no slouch by the looks of it and at the moment can stay at LB because we look ok with Ajayi and Bartley at CH. Be  interesting to see if the Italian get up to speed and challenge for the spot.

I know he's apparently not a left back but....

My god what an upgrade at left back we've made here compared to our previous LB.

How does his song go?

Couldnt call it a song. Its just the repeated chanting of his name... Heggem/Heggem/Heggem. If you get my drift   8)

Brilliant signing just needs a brilliant chant to match the heggem heggem heggem chant is boring and lifeless.

Called up to the Norway squad for the first time -

https://www.wba.co.uk/news/torbjorn-heggem-earns-first-inclusion-senior-norway-squad

Albion defender Torbjørn Heggem has been named in the senior Norway squad for the very first time.

The 25-year-old moved to The Hawthorns in the summer from Swedish outfit Brommapojkarna and has started every single league game in 2024/25, impressing at left-back.

Norway have two UEFA Nations League fixtures in October, hosting Slovenia in Oslo on Thursday, October 10 before travelling to Austria for an encounter in Linz on Sunday, October 13.

Congratulations, Torbjørn!

Hes a solid signing, but its obvious to see hes not a natural left back and does not look entirely comfortable there. But "filling in" he has done very well.
