I'm starting to feel sorry for him.

Looks miles ahead in terms of football IQ than the rest this year and isn't being helped in this current run.

He is clearly a threat to opposing teams but that is all he is a threat.
It is like having a weapon you have no intention to use.
He hardly seems to get in the area and when he does no team mate supplies him with a ball he can use and certainly not with a scoring chance.

This lad is class. Great footballing IQ. Dike coming back should make things very interesting. It should take some of the burden off Maja. Dike coming on for the last 20 mins is a nightmare for any opposing defender in this league

If Dike can return with any level of fitness and ability that he had before the injury, you can easily accommodate both in the starting line up as Maja can easily play the link up role that Diangana is currently failing in.

Definitely, he's got the passing ability and creativity to play that role

Agreed. Wouldn’t mind seeing how he could link up with Cole given the opportunity. Although this would depend on Cole being given an opportunity of course.

Is anyone else getting annoyed at how Maja refuses to hold the ball? Constantly laying it off every time he receives it...

No. I'm getting annoyed at how deep he's dropping though, especially when there's no one running in behind.

With this and Mowatt picking the ball up in centre back areas and Swift dropping ten yards in front of Mowatt we're contesting the pitch too much and centre halves are having such an easy time.

9 goal return from 15 games considering how toothless we have been for the majority of the season is very good.

If he hits 20 we should hit the playoffs

Probably total rubbish, but read an article earlier that Spanish clubs including Real Sociedad are after Maja in January.

Fee mooted was £16m.

The article I read stated that it was Celta Vigo.

Right, lets get rid of our only decent goalscorer, and rely on our 'missing in action' midfield to bag a couple for the remainder. Brilliant.
Our defence is as rock solid as it gets we need a decent midfielder to supply the intelligent Maja, not get rid of the only decent threat we have.

I can foresee the worst of all worlds.  We agree to sell him in principle then we play Sunderland and Ballard does his party trick and stomps on his ankle - and gets a ticking off from the ref.  Deal off.

Is anyone actually saying that we are going to get rid of him? I certainly hope not.

I don't see us selling Maja in January although I wouldn't rule it out in the summer.

In terms of the specifics £15m isn't the sort of fee that Celta Vigo pay I think that would be their record signing.

On the other hand Real Sociedad are capable of spending that level of fee and have invested heavily last summer in 20 year old Icelandic striker Orri Óskarsson and bought one Alexander Isak from Dortmund for 15m euro. Add in that they may well sell Martín Zubimendi for a huge fee in January so money will be available.

According to Transfermarkt, is contracted to June 2026, (so 18 months left), he is probably at optimum value now.
It is a "cash in or offer a new contract decision time". These rumours will only strengthen his negotiating position in my opinion.
He turns 26 next month, so also peak age,

I don't see offers in excess of 15m coming in, and therefore on balance would be offering a contract extension if a mutually acceptable package can be agreed.

If we got offered 16m then surely we would have to consider it.

Not long left on his contract and may or may not have a good season again for whatever reason, form, bad injury etc.

Sell Maja only if we get Louie Barry back. I'm joking but i can't bear the sight of Rogers and Barry leading the Vile front line.

That's why I only mentioned Sociedad, as they are much bigger and there was no way the other team could afford him.

If the rumour is true and £16m was offered then I would take it given his contract situation and I would trust Nestor and co to bring in good replacements and it would help us keep TF and resolve a lot of out financial problems.

Not much point getting stressed, if we're offered anything anywhere near 10m we'll take it and get a bargain basement replacement.  That's where we are right now.
