Good football players don't always make the best managers.

You’re right. In fact they rarely seem to.

Some of the best managers of all time had very modest playing careers. I often wonder how much talent is crowded out by “big names” who get jobs on reputation as players.

Bertie Mee of Arsenal springs to mind.

He only made about 15 appearance during his playing career but guided Arsenal to many trophies during his tenure and did the double of the League Title and FA Cup

I'd love him but he's probably out of our price range. Probably wouldnt want to come to EFL again either.

Average players have to find a clever way to forge a career, unlike those with natural talent.  Can you imagine Ronaldo ever being a manager?

I know a lot of our fanbase like old school, no nonsense British managers who learned the game back in the 70-80's, but the game has moved on.

Dyche is another example. Watching Burnley under him, it was lots of long high balls from the back, crosses into the box hoping a big target man would get on the end. In many ways, how Bruce set up against Luton, (even though we didn't have a big target man).
There will also be fans who want Keane because he will put a rocket up certain players' backsides. That approach will only work with certain players. He will ailenate others and there will be some who will freeze on the pitch because they are scared to make an error.
We need to find a modern, hands-on coach who will actively improve players, by coaching, and devise a system which gets our most talented players fully involved in moving the ball from defence into attack.
I haven't followed Rob Edwards career closely, but I like what I hear about him.

Someone will definitely appoint a “manageress” one day. I remember that series with Cherie Lunghi all those years ago.

We were of course pioneers with black players - it would be great to pave the way again.

But I just don’t see it.

You would hope that the decision makers at WBA have had their fingers burned with the appointments of Bruce & Val, both are on opposite ends of the head coach/manager profile.

Gourlay did say that he wanted multiple inputs into major decision making processes, if that's the case, then I wouldn't expect an imminent appointment, but I would hope Keane isn't being considered.
If it was easy, it wouldn't be Albion

Highly unlikely on them all but I’d love.

Dyche, Enzo or Bielsa.

Alex O'Neil was doing well at Sunderland but Stoke poached him so can we poach Ryan Lowe from Preston?

It has to be with two things in mind, to keep us in this division and build something to challenge next year with what we have, there will be no money to spend.  We've got some decent players on the books now, we need to use them effectively.  Please give someone younger a couple of seasons.

Mick McCarthy was briefly 5th favourite this morning at 8/1.    That would have livened the debate on here if he’d been appointed!

Dream team?

They are. Lai has already said no to Wilder and yet the bookies have him as current favourite.
