Not keen to see BTA go but as he has entered his last season we either need to stump up for a new deal with improved wages or sell.

The problem with increasing his wages are he sounds like he's already on more than you expect, going by the comments 2 years ago "WBA have financially blown Blues out the water in wages"

He's probably asking what we can no longer afford which is his right of course.

I understand that argument Gaz but it won't seem quite so reasoned if we're down the bottom of the league at Christmas because we are incapable of scoring goals.

BTA is actually the last person in the squad I'd sell.

Maybe our recruitment team are super confident of bringing in a couple of gems to replace BTA and Johnston.

They are going to need to.

Tricky times right now. We have to do what we have to do, i just hope that behind the scenes we have replacements lined up /in the frame.

I suspect that Coventry won't be playing Thomas-Asante as an out and out striker which I think will get a better tune out of the player.

Coventry are growing their wage bill which was very modest when they reached the play-off final and their financial position has been greatly bolstered by the sales of Gyökeres and Hamer last summer.  Yet it is a cycle if they continue to ship big contracts without either promotion or another round of big sales they will hit the buffers of P&S restrictions.

I imagine they may have a sell on for Gyökeres who looks likely to move this summer so their finances will be bolstered again from that. They are certainly speculating a lot more nowadays that's for sure and have to be up there as favourites for promotion, but for me, BTA does not enhance their chances of that. He will be a bit part player

Rumours the fee is £4m and Percy pig says £2.5m.

I am sure it will be the dreaded undisclosed but anything less than £3m would be disappointing for me given the rumours Stoke were prepared to pay £5m last summer under Neil.

I think as Johnny Cash said earlier today this is potentially an exciting time. It depends who they come up with of course!  ;D

They had a 15% sell on clause however Gyokeres has done so well he's triggered another 1m payment to Cov but as part of this the sell on clause has now reduced to 10%

His release clause is 84m so if they sell for that then Cov will get around 6m quid extra.

Looks like by having 2 clubs in for him, we were able to earn a bit extra. Maybe if we'd hung on a bit longer, Stoke or another Champo club would have come in and offered more. Even with his faults, BTA is clearly regarded as a proven Champo striker.

Done good for us considering but he is not the answer. We had to stick or twist and the next pay raise would not be something we can afford.

We have not done enough buying low and selling on for profit long may it continue. Thanks for your efforts BTA
O Albion we love you

He's been great value for us since his first day. Always put a shift in and has scored a few crackers. I wish him good luck for the future.

I'm happy making a profit on him and moving him on. He did ok for us but for me if everyone is fit, he's our 3rd choice striker at best

Brandon Thomas-Asante has joined Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old striker arrived at The Hawthorns from Sky Bet League Two outfit Salford City in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 78 appearances for the Baggies, scoring 21 goals.

The club wishes Brandon all the very best in his future career.

All the best BTA. You gave it your all when here.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of him he will remain one of the few successes of the Lai era

A 300K signing who did far better than a number of our multi million pound signings. Always pressed and harassed opponents, forcing errors, and gave it his all. We got more than our money’s worth.

Was asked to carry out a role that probably wasn’t best for him and to do it over many more minutes than we probably wanted. Was left lacking quality at times when simple finishes were needed while conversely scoring worldies.

His character and smile, and the way he bought into the club was a lovely thing to see and it seems that may be missed more than his on pitch performance.

I was in the Brummie for the overhead strike against Stoke and that was a sight to behold in person.

A good deal for the club no doubt, and hopefully we can find a suitable replacement, assuming Maja and Cole aren’t… So long BTA and thank you

Loved his attitude.  Gave his very best.  Sometimes that wasn’t good enough but no-one can ask more than 100% effort and he always gave that.

Thought his snide remarks about Corberan’s tactics were fairly lamentable. Insinuating that he would have scored more were it not for the tactics and failing to mention the numerous gilt edged chances he missed because he’s awful.

Good riddance

Yep remember Hugill making similar remarks when he left us despite him regularly missing from 2 yards it was obviously the managers fault!

All the best to BTA, not everybody's cup of tea, entitled to his opinions but most certainly added something to the squad in the dressing room, always seemed an effervescent character. Can't fault him for the effort he put in!

Laughable the comment on corberan  ,won’t be missed poor player who was very fortunate to even be in the team due to our horrendous injuries ,2.5 million for him aswell which is even better

I still have a feeling this one may come back to bite us on the rear end, certainly guilty of missing guilt edge chances at his time at the club but if he does start putting them away Cov have a good player on their hands & I think Robbin’s could potentially unlock that attacking side out of him.

He gave absolutely everything every time he pulled the shirt on, quality was lacking at times but you couldn’t fault his work ethic & enthusiasm. Fingers crossed we can get a replacement with the same qualities but one that can stick the ball into the back of the net.
