The problem we have is that when Swift does drop to get the ball we're lacking someone further up the pitch to then take it off him.  We're fine when we work it out wide, but we don't have a lot going on in the middle.  I understand why Swift might be being asked to drop for the ball as I don't think it plays to Molumby or Mowatt's strengths but it basically means we end up with 3 CM's all playing quite deep.

Fingers crossed Racic helps improve that as probably the only thing we're missing at the moment is someone playing in that attacking MF role to link us up through the middle.

None of this is Swifts fault though. I'd wager he's doing what CC is asking of him is more my point.

I'm not a Swift lover either, don't get me wrong but he's being asked to do that which he cannot it seems

A passenger again today.
Strange comment as he got through a lot of work today. However, I agree he is more effective further up the pitch where his vision for creating chances is more effective, than in Yokuslu's role. He's also probably got the best shooting technique at the club, so it makes sense for him to get into positions around the edge of the opposition penalty box more frequently.

Mikey Johnston might disagree on the shooting comment. Swift needs to be further up pitch we might go flat 3 yet

Rapidly becoming the new scapegoat even when we’re doing well. He was fine yesterday, as he’s been in all games this season. Seems like some people have to have someone to criticize.

Totally agree. He’s been key to our good start so far this season.

He has, but some just ha be to moan.
The pass for Racic’s second opportunity with the outside of his boot…I doubt any other on the pitch could play that ball.

I think Gazberg has hit the nail on the head in that it looks like Swift is playing under orders to drop deep and collect the ball.

He was sloppy with the ball a few times yesterday  doing his old trick of passing without looking and needlessly giving the ball away but he also played a few excellent forward balls.
Wish he'd shoot more often though.

Swift has had a good start to the season.
Best passer of a ball we have, always looking to receive it even when under pressure
It does look like CC has asked him to drop deeper at times to dictate play more which is fine
Rotation in midfield is good but mowatt hasn’t got the legs to get up and down and gets run past too easily but it’s nice to look at the bench and see 3 capable midfielders in Racic,Styles and Diakite

I agree that he’s doing okay, without being brilliant. Clearly his role has changed and, as a result, we see him with the ball far more often. As others have stated, it really will be interesting to see when all the new boys are up to speed.

Never really been excited watching Swift. His new hair colour is of more interest!
He has the occasional really good game as he did versus QPR but most of the time he’s average.
The creative number 10 slot has not been the same since we lost Matheus Pereira.

Swift and Grady both out of contract end of season. Chance to find a new number 10 if CC desires.

This will continue until Racic is starting every game, Racic can take the ball from the keeper and defenders on the half turn and bring the ball out where as Mowatt and Molumby prefer the picture in front of them.

Molumby has been very good but by playing him you also compromise the system at the same time. I would imagine if he has a few bad games he will be replaced by Racic and wont get back in.

Bang on.

Really liked him when he first came but now I just don't know what he offers. No goal involvements, can't tackle, doesn't track back, doesn't hold it up. I just don't get it, I feel the fans can see it but Carlos seems to have a blind spot with this one. Racic or Grady would surely be a big upgrade.

He was superb away at Portsmouth. Talk about short memories.

I don't mind Swift to be honest. Tidy, keeps us ticking over and he's alright under pressure.

Bit of an easy target as he's languid and flatters to deceive at times, but he's been a solid 7/10 most games this season.

Solid 6-7 would indicate he has had a major role in games . He simply hasn’t!!
Goal involvement has been poor this season. If you are looking at his passing stats you would think he has done a lot, but the facts point to him being a passenger. Needs to be dropped.

I thought he struggled yesterday having to cover the roles of the other midfielders. That said it was Grady who put Fellows into space for the goal (with pretty much his first touch), something which Swift hadn't done all game

Time for Grady to have a run methinks

I agree, he buzzes about more, and we need that with a 3 man midfield.

Most of the time he has been playing deeper linking the defence and attack, he keeps us ticking  over and remains a key player. I get some of the frustration with him, I get that at times but he is also an easy scapegoat to highlight when we have lost a game.
