« on: May 26, 2022, 06:19:05 PM »
John Percy just tweeted

Steve Bruce is set to make former Reading midfielder John Swift his first signing at #wba. Swift was Reading’s top scorer this season and will join West Brom on a free transfer

Fair play, got it done early. I think my preference is Swift over Wallace if we can only get one so happy this is happening.

Happy enough with this news. Swift is an improvement as a stand alone signing although the combination of Swift and Wallace has significant potential and if we don't land Wallace we need an alternative.

Just watched his highlights on YouTube, good to see a player not fall over at the first opportunity when challenged. Impressive - this is the sort of player we should be after.

Really top signing this, by far one of the best players available to us. He's a top creator and gets goals as well. Really good on the ball which is something we sorely lack in the middle.

Really excellent start to the window - lets keep this up!

Seen some comments from Reading fans saying he’s a little inconsistent, on his day the best player in the league but can be anonymous if he’s not at it.

Certainly looking at his highlights & stats he’s what we’ve been missing. Looks like he takes a decent set piece as well.

If we can get Wallace through the door it will have been a good start.

Great to hear, get him and wallace in early will be like a new midfield.

That and Dike up top will basically be like a new signing and hopefully we can start to look forward.

Really the only possible strategy, spend what we have on wages for the best of the championship - let's hope it's good enough

Good signing. Play him as a 10 with Wallace on the right and Grady on the left behind Dike
Good start.

Happy with the signing. It's been glaringly obvious for some time that we've needed attacking options from midfield...some credit to SB for recognising that.

Excellent signing! Those stats and what he does is the first part of what we've been missing. Well done Baggies.

Certainly the area of the team that most needs strengthening, and his stats look good.
I expect Ron Gourlay's Reading links played a part.

Won’t lie I didn’t think we’d have a chance of getting this guy given our season finish.

5 more to go! 😀
