Theres only 3 people at work who dont have the self isolate message (mine finshed 3 days ago)...my company is part of a trial where you can daily test and if it comes back negative you can work. We are the lucky ones though, i know in certain parts of the country there are barely any hospitality venues open due to this reason.

Going tommorrow to get my second jab in a walk in and then i will feel better about the whole thing. Im still going to be wearing my mask in public and practising/prompting others to distance themselves about me. Corona isnt over on the 19th, its here for the short-term (hopefully just short term)

Not a great fan of the rising ill will towards unvaccinated people tbh.

Yes there is an answer. Telling the truth and leadership. The government do neither in my opinion with regard to this pandemic. They just want to position themselves to appear in the best light and free from blame.
What do you consider the truth and on what matters?, so-called experts have different views of the virus and what is around the corner quite what else you expect a government to do I've no idea they were fast out the blocks on vaccination which is a key factor.
Like everyone else they have to wait and see if only we had a crystal ball  we don't need a country full of Mr Hindsights.

The need to please people should be near the bottom of the government's priority list. When making these difficult decisions, all that really matters is whether the health service can take the strain. Our politicians have been rather disingenuous in claiming that the restrictions are primarily there to save lives; their is aim is less to prevent serious illness and death than to ensure that people ail at a rate digestible for the NHS.
The government did say at the beginning we have to stop the NHS from being overrun that to all intents and purpose was the main aim and why now that we have put that danger behind us we should open up the country and return to something like normal while at the same time keeping an eye on  hospital admissions etc .

If they are so meritorious why , now all restrictions are being lifted can’t the public inquiry commence ? You , I and the works cat know they were less than honest about care homes just as one glaring example of a non truth

If hospital admissions rise again, particularly with the majority of adults now double jabbed or will be within the next 8 weeks, where do we go next? Another lockdown? Third jabs? At some point we have to accept this pandemic and live with it in every day life

If the NHS isn't ready after nearly 18 months of protection it never will be.

I agree that we will have to live with this virus at some stage, but not yet. Hospitalistaion probably will go up again, because there's still a lot of people who haven't been jabbed twice. We have to get as near to herd immunity as possible, 85-90% of population fully jabbed, and if the numbers are still too high, we get a third booster jab.  We haven't got there yet.

I don't think they're meritorious and I think I can say hand on heart no government in my lifetime have been honest with the public, I could give a long list of examples covering each government but we and the works cat all know that isn't allowed on this forum and you strayed over the line imo.

New figures show that cumulative age-adjusted mortality in England and Wales in the first six months of 2021 is 0.4% below the 10-year average, making 2021 among the least deadly years in history.

Out of interest for the people saying they won't have a third jab - why is that?

If you trust the scientists to take two jabs why wouldn't you take a third?

We're getting close to the stage where this topic is going to be locked if things continue.

Despite previous warnings about this being a football forum some of you are still only bothering with this topic and its getting to be an "us vs them" type thread with posts having to be removed and too much childish squabbling so it will be monitored over the next few days and if i'm not happy it will go and WestBrom.com will be a football forum only.

Luckily Mark removed the earlier post before I saw it  and it seems this warning was ignored so it comes down to this,  one more reason and the topic goes whether you are happy or not and we stick to the football.

Upto you all, going by past responses to this type of request I don't hold out much hope for this topic.

Just watching GMB and two of the scientists who developed the vaccine were on the show, if you get a chance watch their interview, very informative.

I think it looks like the plan is to let the virus rip now after 19th July. People have had ample time to get at least one vaccine now. From what I read/heard up to 90% of people in ICU or dying are not vaccinated.

Yes vast majority of hospital cases and deaths are unvaccinated. Have to respect their choice not to have it.

Which I do, but it should not affect the rest of the population who have taken the plunge for freedom.

I agree, thats why its beyond time to open up regardless.

We are on about 85% having 1 jab so far so when they have offered everyone the chance it's going to be high 80s, nearly 90 i'd imagine.

Leaving just over 10% with no protection through their own choice.

This small percentage will either be fine, have/develop antibodies, helping with the 'herd immunity', get seriously ill and then take the vaccine because they understand it's not a fake thing, lastly a small percentage of this group will die.

Whatever happens they chose what was right for them and has no bearing or justification on keeping people locked down.
