There are some hoping for the halcyon days under him before (we all do btw), but they are forgetting the context how those results were achieved.

We had the massive advantage of parachute money and had the bonus of big profits made from players bought in by the pragmatic Megson, yet with all that we still had a very soft underbelly and couldn't defend well, but we could outscore them.

I don't say any of this for the sake of it, it is because I can see a once solid defence playing much worse and solid individuals like Furlong, Styles and Heggem making uncharacteristic errors as I believe they do not have that discipline anymore.

You’re not going to get your wish Balis.

Everything from Patel and Nestor in recent weeks is a far cry from pragmatism.

What were not going to get defensive solidity?

Fine, let's see how long Patel and Nestor (really don't understand how this guy is so revered especially with his recruitment process) put up with mid to lower table mediocrity.

The teams like Blackburn have got to where they are with defensive solidity as it's very hard to go up without parachute payments.

It was that defensive solidity that got us into the po last season and nearly into the po then season before.

Look how Blackburn defended against us, it was superb, bodies on the line, and that was with a Danny Baath in their defence.

Valero was capped for Spain and had a fantastic career. Regarding recruitment, it's unrealistic to think a manager is primarily responsible these days. Price and Bany were clearly scouted before Mowbray arrived—if they succeed, are those his achievements?

Swift has barely played recently, and Mowbray had to give everyone a fair chance. Wallace hasn’t been as bad as some suggest. Fellows was anonymous against Millwall, he touched the ball 3 times and struggled against Blackburn, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good player—everyone has off days.

Armstrong likely wouldn’t even be here without Mowbray, and if anyone knows how to utilize him, it’s Mowbray.

As for bringing up the past, it’s been 17 years since he managed us. It’s no longer relevant, and it’s time to move on from it

Rosenberg (not a mobrary I know) was an international too, does that make him a great West
Brom signing too?

I am not judging him on what he did with us last time, I am judging him what I have seen to date this time.

Some on here said he was more pragmatic now, and I had hoped that would have meant more defensive solidity, but that isn't the case.

I want everyone at West Brom to do well, and I hope he does brilliantly for us and puts the past week behind us quickly, but if he fails to get top 6 that is a failure in my eyes and we need to get a coach who is more pragmatic and can get more from our limited squad.

And people on here were turning their noses up at him when it was suggested we go for him.

This forum and some of the opinions make me smile

Achievements don't matter, especially if they were done in extremely difficult financial circumstances.

Some were slagging off Wilder at the start of the season and the oft used dinosaur came out to describe him.

I mentioned Moyes on here few years back and he was already in the Jurassic age according to some then.

No respect for defensive discipline and solidity it's all about champagne football fantasy on a dripping sandwich budget.

thankyou KingKoren for posting some sense, TM will have started by giving everyone a clean sheet and therefore have to learn that our "bigger names / established "stars" have been consistently under performing and that its unlikely to change anytime soon.
I have read people saying the reboot will take another couple of windows, I don't subscribe to that view, the rebuild will be an on-going process particularly if the Bilkul process is "develop and sell on".

TM has had a good eye for a player historically, that would have been very attractive to Bilkul, this was always going to be an erratic phase when compared to CCs tenure, I really do think we will come out of it stronger though.

Has he?

Zuvi, Martis, Pele, Barnett, Valero and on and on...

His record was average at best.

There is a lot of distorted nostalgia regarding Mowbray.

He's teams' could not defend then and they can't defend now.

I didn't want him, but I was willing to give him a chance as he had given youth a chance at Blackburn and Sunderland, but I am losing the little faith I had in game after game.

His undying love of Wallace and Swift is perplexing. A dead Tom Fellows is better than Wallace and a dead fish better than swift.

Playing your most potent striker on the left is shocking and bringing Swift on yesterday instead of Price, who has much better dead ball delivery, is tragic.

Like I said before, I am not saying sack him now, but if he fails to get top 6 after getting arguably the best striker in the championship in January, he really has no excuses as it will his lifelong achilles heel of not being able to defend will again be his undoing and I know where my "soft" foot would be going.

I’m wondering what we saw in Mowbray, that other clubs with serious ambitions of promotion, including relegated clubs didn’t.

Let’s be honest, his recent CV has been clubs in danger of relegation or are generally middling.

We saw that he was free, whereas quality candidates weren't.]

I agree Swift hasn’t produced this season, however it would appear many Albion fans don’t rate him, yet I’d hazard a guess his stats are better over the past three seasons than the likes of Mowatt and Molumby.

The issue for me is the current squad simply aren’t good enough and it makes little sense blaming certain individuals.

They should be given he's amf and they are not, yet both have done vastly better than him this season.

I understand the financial arguement, it just irks me when people pretend we've had an amazing transfer window when we've sold our first choice keeper.

Don't worry the same people were creaming themselves after seeing Uros playing for 5 minutes and wanted him signed up on a permanent deal.

Imo Palmer will be the difference in getting into the po or not.

He's lost a lot. He's half the man he used to be on TikTok

I didn't think he looked slimmer at all.

I probably need to go to Specsavers.

Great to see him back and pray he stays injury free and bangs in a lot of goals.

Get a grip mate !he’s been in charge 5 games we wernt even in top 6 when corberen left

We were 7th on gd and when he took over we were 6th.

Not advocating he should be sacked now, but there's been no manager bounce just a splat and if we fail to make the po then I do want to him to go, and I said that from the moment he was linked with a second coming.

It should have been a contract to the end of season to see how it went or maximum a 18 months deal.

It may make you cross but if he doesn't resurrect our defensive solidity it's only going one way.

Do you understand the game at all, has in the modern game.
If you watch a premier league game literally every player has pace and athleticism
I could play still if my game was all about standing still and playing an easy backwards and sideways pass
He’s not the worst footballer at this level and can’t have his uses from the bench for me but you cammot use him has the deepest lying midfielder he can’t run

Are we in the premier league?

On Monday I read this from him about Blackburn could be galvanised:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c2d3kdrdw3xo.amp

Now I have just read him say the same about Millwall after their defeat:

https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/west-brom-boss-expects-fired-up-millwall-side-following-convincing-plymouth-defeat/

Why don't you concentrate on organising your defence instead getting your excuses out in the press.

Why are you talking of a fired up Millwall after their loss, when we lost too, and ensuring we are fired up, which certainly wasn't the case on Wednesday, and that lethargy and lack of passion spread to the crowd, which was one of the quietest in ages.

Can we please have poll that gives us a snapshot of opinions as to whether Mogga should leave if we fail to make the play offs.

He legged it to Celtic at the first opportunity, so I owe him no loyalty.

Just a few things
Who’s “to ku”?
I never said he needs to be a headless chicken
I never said anything about Mowatt on the day he signed….and if I did and someone had gone back through all of my posts just to reference that…you would consider they had some sort of issue .

You really need to understand, just because people don’t agree with your opinion ,doesn’t make your opinion correct nor does it mean that they “really don’t understand football”
If you have a view on Mowatt …then put it
But constantly sniping at others opinions isn’t a great look.

Sniping, you can talk.

You constantly sniped against CC and those who praised him.

Every draw led you to claim that he should go.

I never said anything about what you said on the day Mowatt signed, I was referring to when he was playing brilliantly last season you said you couldn't see what the fuss was about and said he was slow.

You now single out Furlong, when it is clear that the whole of the back 4 has lost the cohesion (and clean sheets/ instilled by CC, and Styles and Heggem weren't very good either yesterday.

In front of the defence Molumby is no longer helping to protect them and for some reason is now being played as an attacking mf, when we need him to play his normal game as a disruptor.

You have a set opinion of a player (Mowatt for example) and it doesn't matter how well he plays you will not praise him, whilst others on here are more fair minded and praise players when they deserve it (Grant for example).

We had the best performing defence in the league a few short weeks ago.

But, obviously CC was the problem as some wanted him out so we could unleash our attacking prowess.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Alex Mowatt

He just cannot run and that has to be a basic requirement for a midfielder in this league ?
He loves taking over the free kicks and corners because eventually if you throw enough pasta at the wall one piece will stick….Price can deliver much better .
Another that we need rid off ASAP

You really don't understand the game at all.

He doesn't need to run like a possessed headless chicken.

He needs to make himself available for passes in tight situations and retain possession, but obviously to Ku know more than CC and now Mogga who continue to play him.

You have been wrong about him since day one when you declared he was too slow for your liking, but then again you wanted cc out too, so....

He should have been on the pitch tonight to counter Gueye with his height, but his stupidity got him a stupid ban.

If Mowbray did not fine him for that it is shocking and condoning stupidity.

Hopefully, we can replace him someone like Darling on a free in the summer.

I think it would have been best for both parties had it been a contract until the end of this season.

That's what I said, or failing that maximum 18 months.

But, Nestor messed it up so much he had to give Mowbray what he wanted.

How do Plymouth found their manager and after spending an age Nestor found Mowbray.

He needs to get a grip and stop playing rubbish like Swift and Wallace.

He took us over in the top six and if we aren't still there at the end of the season then it will be thanks and goodbye.

I hope it's not close so we can finally learn to live without him.

Surprised nobody has mentioned his great goal.

If it was someone like Ronaldo all and sundry would have been raving about it.

Playing well again now, but given his habit of getting yellow cards we could have done without him getting a very cheap and avoidable one for taking his shirt off after scoring.
