And not available to us anyway for whatever reason so why name them….
Because about a week ago people were arguing for Moyes and Potter as they are for Dyche now.

It's no good trying to point out the facts.

He has been labelled a "dinosaur" and his past achievements and experience are from the Jurassic age and don't matter a jot.

Forgot that we haven't got a pot to urinate in, we need someone to romp the league playing entertaining football on a budget.
You're having a laugh if you think Dyche is going to come to the Albion His wages would be too much and he wouldn't want to come to us anyway. As you said we are on a budget without a pot to pee in. Moyes, Potter, Cooper are sadly out of our league right now.

Out of the remaining bunch l can't decide between Cooper or Fischer. Probably of no consequence as, we won't get either. I'm at a, loss now. I don't want Dyche, to me that would be, a return to the bad old days.

Glad we are all supporting the same team. For what its worth I think Fellows is worth more than £10M and Maja more than £15M when I look at what clubs are paying these days. Problem is getting someone to buy. I have faith in our management that they will get the best deal they can, if indeed we sell them at all in this window.

I listened to the podcast today and there seemed to be a lot of praise for Peace and a thoroughly professional recruitment process conducted.
That's what I took from the podcast. Im feeling positive about our management and Look forward to getting behind their choice of manager.

As long as our normally reliable defence doesn't become like swiss cheese under him, we have a fighting chance.

Tamper with that and I will be praying for over 50 points asap.

Those who turned their noses up to the likes of Dyche may soon discover the saying defences win titles.
If people thought Carlos was boring God help them if we got Dyche. If Pulis and Mike Basset had a child it would be Sean Dyche. His voice is so gruff from shouting "Get Back and Slow it Down.

I like the idea building a better squad in the Championship and getting promoted with it and using that as the basis for establishing us in the Premier League.

However football doesn't work like that. It will be really difficult to retain our better players in this Division. For instance we could quite easily lose Maja and Fellows in the summer even if we got good fees replacing them in the Championship will be difficult . Using the fees well we may improve the squad overall but we are unlikely to be much stronger or at least close the gap on those with parachute payments,  but equally we could end up in a worse position.

Promotion on the other hand means we have a better chance of retaining our better players and critically we can attract better players than we can in the Championship. Even if we get relegated after just one season we end up with a better squad than we would have done had we remained in the Championship.

Being the whipping boys in any division is miserable I get it but slowly drifting into mid-table Championship mediocrity isn't much fun either.
I totally agree with this sad truth. With FFP the only way we can get enough money into our squad is through the Premier League TV money. The path forward is through yo yoing from the Championship into the Prem and eventually sticking there. Like some other teams have done. A current season or two like Southampton are experiencing now is the only way to progress. It's sad but true. In the Prem seasons we then have to increase the ground capacity to increase revenue potential in the leaner years.

Like SmethDan said, I think BalisPen is exercising a cautious approach as opposed to shunting the idea of Wicky and that is absolutely fine and his right as a fan.

Going to what you have said about better options with experience it really depends on what we wanted and the varying factors to consider. Out of job managers meant no compensation and the CC compensation being “money in the bank” which further helps us so that could limit the likes of Eustace or even those on gardening leave (I’m not sure the legal restraints on that and who needs to pay to release) so if we’re then also considering coaches that play the football they want and then would work within the structure they want it really begins to narrow down.

I would’ve said the best, modern manager that seemed free to join and had experience at this level would’ve been Schumacher but his experience isn’t exactly reassuring. It seems we approached Mowbray. Then the likes of Cooper, Martin, Moyes would potentially all be on decent gardening leave pay.

So for me it then becomes a no-brainer to look to Europe or assistants so from every time a new man was linked and I go down the rabbit-hole of researching them and committing the sin of falling in love with a coach not yet employed, for me, it came down to Fischer and Wicky when I dropped my pie in the sky thinking.

TL;DR - I’m happy with Wicky even though I’d never heard of him 4 weeks ago!
My bad on Steve Cooper. Its a huge positive that Wicky has managed a team that has played in the champions league and beat Man Utd and Man City. Football is football I think he knows how to manage a team of championship standard and not having experience  of the British leagues is not that big a deal. But time will tell.

No I don't think he is to be honest. My take from both of Balis's posts is that he's expressing a genuine concern while hoping for the best.
And like Balis who do you think was realistically better ?

Highly rated Austrian and Swiss managers always get a job in Germany.

The fact is he's been out of work for nearly a year and none of them rated his success in Switzerland enough to merit an opportunity there.

Instead he finds himself looking for, and apparently accepting, second tier job offers from skint clubs in England.
So your writing him off before we have even kicked a ball under him. Steve Cooper has been out of management for over a year. Graham Potter was out of work for nearly 2 years, Who from the realistic options did you want?

With all those available with second tier promotion experience under their belts, it's disappointing that we have gone with someone who hasn't ever managed in England.

A massive risk, which I pray goes well.
Yeah hugely disappointing if its Wicky. The coach who has managed in the Champions league beating Peps Man city and Utd's Mourinho' . When all those managers  with experience of beating oxford and Barnsley were available.

I think we are attractive. English football is attractive generally, we're consistently towards top end of one of the biggest leagues in Europe in terms of attendance and spending. Any head coach could become a PL head coach with 1 good season.

We need to bare in mind this is the new owners first appointment, they're going to really diligent with it. Especially with us having a real chance at promotion.

Basically write off between Christmas and NY, everyone spends time with families etc especially when you're not currently a manager.

There's load to factor in to the appointment. Its been about 2 weeks really. And Brunt/Abella have been fine which has given Nestor MORE time to be diligent - be thankful!

Loads to factor into the new appointment, renumeration, contracts, back room staff, tactical approach, use of youth system, scouting, structure, tactical flexibility, motivation skills.
l think we were before Lai took over. I think in our current state we have potential but there are at least 25 teams in  the English football pyramid in better shape than us. Then take at least the top 2 or 3 clubs from most leagues in Europe, they  are bigger and financially better placed than us. Blues are financially better off and a more attractive prospects than us. I said before Corboran left that it would be a very difficult task to find a manager as good as him that wants to come to us. Again l think we are fishing in a very small limited ability pond of managers.

I think the delay is due to the fact that we are not as attractive as some fans think we are.How many times have I heard on here about a possible quality candidate "Oh he is out of our league" or " "he is never going to come here". Most quality managers wont want to come to a financially struggling club which is what we are. I suspect that management are trying to get the best they can from a not so talented small pool. What would you do if you were Shilen Patel and the managers you want don't want to come after being told what they have to spend or the ones you interview you know aren't good enough.

Sounds like we are down to the final 3 then.

Wicky
Fischer
Hake

In that order please. That being said whoever it is gets full support!
Out of the 3 l want Wicky. Hake really doesn't inspire me at all. I will get behind whoever it is. I just hope the owners make a good choice.

Probably the Corberan detractors comment. Thought that was clear.
is detractors such a heinous slurr? I will rephrase, those midly suggesting perhaps a slightly more positive approach to our tactics. Kumbaya my Lord kumbaya

Well I'm rooting for Wicky. Hope that isn't unrealistic to anyone.   I'm sure whoever it is appointed they wont be everyone's cup of tea. I just hope whoever we get they have the same level of dedication as Carlos and the the same win ratio.

Other than the meaning of a “detractor “ is to be disparaging …and I think (and certainly my point of view) was not to be disparaging but to night light real concerns re use of the squad and stubbornness to adapt etc etc .
I was then Questioned if I knew what I was on about,by a poster that asked if “tge detractors” would be happier with a manager that is way beyond our current realistic ambitions.
In terms of attack-mindedness, Michael Flynn and Ryan Lowe stand out among managers who are attainable. Do they make more sense to you?

Postecoglou will not be turning up at the Hawthorns. Totally unrealistic.
Does anyone actually read the posts? I was trying to highlight the type of manager i.e. an all out attack style compared to CC's accused overly cautious approach and that many Spurs fans weren't happy with his approach. Still would like Cooper but if not would gamble on Wicky.

Also remember Carlos had one of the best  win percentages of any Albion managers ever and our playing style was million miles away from the likes of Pulis served up.

The reference to Postecoglou was because l think he, will be sacked if Liverpool beat them badly tonight. He was just an example of a manager who's teams play without the so called handbrake on that CC was accused of. Of course the  chance of him at the Albion at this time is far fetched. I heard Spurs fans complain that he is too gung ho and it's just interesting that most fans complain no matter what the playing style is if the team isn't winning games. Pulis my exception to that rule. I couldn't cope with another 1-0 slow motion win under him. Even reading his win% stats are boring. W36, D36, L49.

Nobody on here sacked Corberan
He decided to walk out on the club…might be worth remembering that?
who said  CC was sacked? I was talking about the spurs manager getting sacked and how he might suit those supporters who like attacking managers. Not sure what you are on about.

Ange Postecoglou anyone after he gets the sack from Spurs? Plays with no handbrake for the Corboran detractors.
