After calming down from earlier, although I do still feel very angry about the whole thing, im looking for positives & a brighter summer.
I do disagree with Pulis' tactics at the moment, and his gameplan is overall very poor. His choices are poor, his decisions are incorrect IMO & i do believe he has a stubborn streak which he needs to try to drop.
However, watching MOTD & also doing my weekly scouting work, i do have some sympathy for him.
We as Albion fans can see, and have stated, this group of players as a collective & individually are not good enough.
Pulis' tactics may not be to everyone's taste, however i do fully believe the long ball/long pass can work & is used much more than people think. Palace '"lumped it" long 3 times today and scored! But what would you do with CURRENT squad?
4 managers have no taken control of this squad, which for about 80% of the players has stayed the same throughout that period.
Out of those 4 managers, i would trust Pulis to truly sort it out come the summer. Under Clarke we signed alot of unproven players, Mel would of risked signing several Spanish based/foreign lads whilst Irvine's signings (90%) of them were failures. (When i say theyre signings, i understand more than most some of these are the club signings rather than the actual manager in charge at the time. )
However i do fully believe Pulis will sign trusted, proven, well known players who will turn this squad around. I doubt our European recruitment network will be as busy as they were last year (out of the 10/11 signings from last summer, am i right in thinking only 2 were British based?).
Pulis will sign players who we can all relate to, who he/we know will be able to perform at this level. Im not saying he will have millions to spend, but he spend it wisely. Yes we may see players like Crouch, Taylor, Lambert etc come in but these players IMO will play their part in a squad easily capable of a top 12/14 finish.
Lets try to see this season out, i think we will just about be safe, and then we need to trust our manager & our UK scouting department and then look to a brighter future.
