West Bromwich Albion FC / People leaving early
« on: January 27, 2025, 06:40:43 PM »
There has been a lot of traffic on social media about people leaving the ground early.
This will never change unless something is done about traffic management after the game. Things have got worse since they started closing one side of the road outside the Brummie. All traffic coming from Birmingham now has to turn into Park Lane before the ground, which is one of the "escape" routes, and parking areas. Because of the parking it's quite narrow, but they allow traffic to come from the Newton Road, and it's difficult to pass. With people trying to get away, and the additional traffic out of Birmingham it's chaos.
I park next to McDonalds, and when I left at full time I sat in traffic not moving for a good 30 minutes.
In a nutshell, that's why people leave before time.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't remember many better transfer windows than this one.
I am really optimistic about this season now

General Football & Sports / Foreign Leagues

How many on here have watched any foreign games live?

I was in Germany last weekend and went to a Bundesliga 3 game, Zwickau v Osnabruck
It was interesting to see but the standard was absolutely dire, like watching two pub teams. Decent crowd though and a nice little ground, capacity about 10,000 and about half full, but a good atmosphere
It was interesting to listen to the fans comments. I speak some German so understood most of it, and the moans and complaints are the same all everywhere

Why is it when a keeper makes a mistake it's everyones fault but his. Schmeichel was the worst for this, but I have just seen John Ruddy rollocking everyone after he threw a Derby corner into his own net with no-one near him

West Bromwich Albion FC / The Lords My Shepherd
« on: October 21, 2014, 08:11:55 PM »
Does anyone know exactly when and why "The Lords My Shepherd" was adopted as our anthem?

Liverpool have had "You'll never walk alone" since Gerry and the Pacemakers in the sixties, and the Bluenoses have had "Keep Right On" as long as I remember, but I have been going to the Hawthorns since the sixties, and I know we didn't sing it in the sixties, seventies and eighties, but I can't recall when it actually started

I just wondered what silly superstitions and matchday routines people have.

Mines nothing very excessive, I always have to park in the same place, go into the ground 45 minute before kick off, and use the same turnstile. I am sure other people must have much more extreme routines

Not that it ever makes any difference, but if I can't it just doesn't feel right to break the routine

Listening to Radio WM today, they were asking about favourite away grounds - I thought it might lighten the mood on here talking about peoples favourite and worst away trips both now and in the past.

My favourite past and present is Everton, a proper football ground, and I used to hate the Dell when Southampton played there, a real dump

West Bromwich Albion FC / Red Kit
« on: April 05, 2014, 08:55:59 PM »
Why are we playing in the so called "limited edition" red kit instead of the red and black stripes. We played in red against Swansea and Norwich (when there is no need to change at all !!!)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Odemwingie Interview
« on: April 02, 2014, 08:46:35 PM »
Odemwingie just been on Sky Sports and said West Brom the worst dressing room he's been in in 10 years. Also said he didn't want to end his career at a club of West Brom's level

Why did he go to Cardiff and then Stoke then  :o :o

Before todays game they had a feature on Radio WM about things you miss about matchdays. One that came near the top was Liquidator before the match (shared by a few Dingles no doubt). Wondered what other people missed
