Thinking about it, Phillips and just about anyone he played with were deadly in the Championship.

Kamara and Phillips.

The pace of Kamara alongside the technique and know how of Super Kev.

absolutely no doubt...

Ronnie Allen (234 goals in 415 games) and Derek Kevan (173 goals in 291 games)...simply sensational

closely followed by..

Allen and Johnny Nicholls (64 in 145)...

there are some advantages in being a very old baggie.... ;D

I've just read through this thead, thinking Ronnie Allen and Derek Kevan for me - and then I find VoB's beaten me to it. Atle and Bomber also stand out, but for juust another shout, Astle and John Kaye were very strong before Kaye dropped back into midfield.

cyrille regis and ally brown in 1978-79, as this was the high-point for the club for me within living memory and has since become legendary in albion folklore.

more recently, just about any combination of kevin phillips with diomansy kamara, ishmael miller and/or roman bednar. they produced an attacking game that had real charisma.

regis / thompson. everything about them was cool. Especially when they both scored against villa in the last 5 minutes to win the game 3-1 back in the 80's. Greatest scenes of celebration ever. One of those where you are in a totally different part of the stand when it calms down and it takes 5 minutes to find your dad again. magic!

Kamara and Phillips...wow, brings back great memories. They tore the Championship up.

As im only 34, it has to be Taylor/ Hunt from what I have seen personally, the understanding they had has a partnership was very effective! Hughes/ Roberts were 2 individual players who both liked to run with the ball, didnt work so well as a partnership IMO.
