Guys can we stop with this '40 point' nonsense. Last season 36 points was enough. Season before 34 was enough! and the season before that 37.

This season we already have Villa on 11 points from 21 and Sunderland on 15 points from 20. The chances are 36 (if that) will be enough once again. In which case we need 10 points from 18 games, (aka 3 wins 1 draw and 14 defeats). How anyone can still be pessimistic about our chances of survival is beyond me. Lighten up guys its January after all!
That's one of our problems. It's ONLY January.

The Premier League is set to drop its longstanding lion-based logo this summer, with a rebrand imminent ahead of the league's first season without a title sponsor since 1993.

The crowned lion has been a prominent feature of the Premier League product since its inception in the 1992-93 season, representing the relationship between the league and the English Football Association.

The news has been met with varying degrees of sadness and range by fans across social media.

The Premier League is yet to put the contract for the rebrand out to tender, but is viewing the departure of current title sponsor Barclays as the opportunity to refresh the company's image.

The Football League unveiled the results of its own rebrand in November, with the new logo in particular attracting the derision of supporters on social media.

With the new name, the 'English Football League' or 'EFL', one detractor noted that the initialism "sounds like some kind of racist political party".

The Premier League will be keen to make sure their strong brand takes no backward steps as it heads into its first season with only secondary affiliated sponsors.

Barclays have been associated with the Premier League as a title sponsor since 2001.

Prior to Barclays' involvement, the lager brand Carling had featured in the league's name between 1993 and 2001.

Swansea could easily drop this season. Clear that all hasn't been well there this season.

Sunderland, under the cosh for most of the first 40 minutes at Tottenham take a surprise lead. Within 91 seconds though Spurs were back on level terms.

Why is that a surprise? Its clear QPR are desperate to get him off their wage bill and in the summer all the clubs that were interested called their bluff knowing they would get him much cheaper this month.

I'm more surprised Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle didn't make a bigger offer.

Yeah I've just caught up with the news, I didn't realise his contract was up in summer. It's a great deal for Saints though.

It was widely reported that he wanted to stay down South, as soon as Southampton showed an interest I don't think it would have made any difference if any of those clubs had bid for him.
