Messi disappointing. Ronaldo on fire.

Best player of all time bar Pele.

Who else has nerves like the man?
Totally different opponents. Everyone is going to struggle to break down that Icelandic team. Pulis must’ve loved it.

Peru miss a VAR awarded penalty. Bit of a shocker to be honest.

I've enjoyed the games so far - but I don't think we've seen the winners yet

I agree and your right it was only one game. One was against Spain and one was against Iceland though, no offence to Iceland.

I just don't get the sense that Messi has the will ,when compared to Ronaldo , to drag the team by the scruff of the neck through the tournament.

That's what sets him apart for me.

A questionable pen, a questionable poor effort from De gea which would have been a very basic save for any goalkeeper and a free kick are what cost Spain the 3 points. he hardly tore Spain apart like some make out.

The difference for me is that Messi was having to come into his own box to win the ball for his team at times and was surrounded by 3/4 players at a time where Ronaldo was receiving balls he could run onto.

Neither of them compare to Maradona in that respect, and neither does Pele who played in some of the greatest ever teams.

I wish the Mexicans would release the ball earlier when attacking. Good game though.

Not buying that Mexico were that impressive. Germany just lacked a final ball and decent finishing but played it around nicely at times. Virtually the entire second half was played in the Mexico final third.

Mexico outhought Germany, I thought the Germans football looked predictable, slow and somehow old fashioned.

Brazil 1-1 Switzerland

Brazil, great going forward, but iffy defending. They need Tone as a defensive coach :o ;D

Neymar must be in line for an Oscar for his acting injured when he's barely been touched!

Yes I know that but, they came to it as hot favourites.
It seems to me that Germany and Brazil expect teams to let them win, they can't cope when they are pressed high up and attacked on the break, very average  and boring to watch.
Pele must be turning in his commentary box watching it.

Early days. No win for Spain Germany Brazil and Argentina would have been a very lucrative accumulator.

Of the 4 Spain ran into Ronaldo and Germany are notoriously slow starters. While Argentina thought the way to win was give it to Messi irrespective of the triple marking. Brazil the most disappointing result of the 4.

Is it just me or is Danny Murphy one of the most annoying pundits out there? Just comes across as a bit of a Jay (inbetweeners) in the sense that what he says is right and is biblical.
