West Bromwich Albion FC / Brummie/Halfords Lane exit points

This has become a particular gripe of mine in recent seasons but Saturday felt like the final straw.

Can someone explain why supporters from the Brummie and Halfords are being forced down a narrow pavement whilst the whole road remains blocked off?

We’re pushing thousands of people into a tiny gap from both sides which is causing bottle necking. Some supporters then decided to push fellow fans through the gap which caused greater problems given disabled and young people are also pushed through the gap.

I was told that a terrorism threat is the reason why those steel gates cannot be opened. I am sorry, but that is quite frankly the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard. A terrorist may be prevented from driving down the Halfords lane but the thousands walking down the Brummie Road are fair game.

Can someone on the AA raise this issue with the club because I am interested to hear their response.

Can someone tell me what this means?

I keep seeing suggestions that we’ll overhaul the playing squad but that is for the birds.

We will lose Johnstone, Molumby, Clarke, Carroll and Button in the summer.

Nobody is going to want any of our dross and some of them are on long standing contracts.

Unless someone offers us some money for the current rubbish then there is no rebuild.

I’m not hopeful that a new manager or director of football is suddenly going to turn this lot around.

The contract lengths of some of these are just staggering really - eye watering incompetency

Grant - expires at the end of 2026
Furlong - expires at the end of 2025
Robinson - expires at the end of 2025
Diangana - expires at the end of 2025
Townsend - expires at the of 2025
Phillips - expires at the end of 2024
Reach - expires at the end of 2024
Mowatt - expires at the end of 2024
Kipre - expires at the end of 2024

Our form across the last 20 games has us four points above the relegation spots.

And we’re meant to rely on this lot next year? God help us.

Following our relegation from the Premier League and the clause within Sam Allardyce’ contract, we have agreed to create the following thread for all future managerial discussion as we plan our next steps.

This should prevent the other threads on the forum from being taken over by the managerial speculation.

A poll has been added for members to vote on their preferred candidate. The names within the poll have been taken from the previous bookmakers odds for the hot seat. Some current out of work managers who were linked previously have been added. Willing to add more if I’ve missed someone obvious.

Really unsure what we do here going forwards & keen to hear the thoughts of others.

Our current options consist of:

Ajayi, Ivanovic, Kipre, Bartley and O'Shea.

Quite frankly you could make a case that none of them are good enough but it is clear that Ivanovic and Kipre do not have much of a future here.

If we sign a new centre half during this month - who do we drop? Who partners the new centre half going forwards?

If we do not sign a new centre half - what is the best partnership going forwards?

If we drop Ajayi, do we lose his threat of goals at the other end?

Following the suspension to Romaine Sawyers, Bilic is now forced to break up the Sawyers and Livermore axis which has been so important to us over the course of the season.

Two home games upcoming against Preston and Wigan ahead of our cup tie against Newcastle.

How does Slav solve the problem? Any major changes to the formation or just changes to personnel.

Alternative midfield options include Gareth Barry, Chris Brunt, Rekheem Harper. Might we see the Ajayi in midfield experiment used? Does Krovinovic drop deeper with Grosicki or Phillips returning to the side?

Albion can today confirm Jimmy Shan will remain in charge of the first team until the end of the season.

Shan will continue his role of caretaker Head Coach until the close of the 2018/19 campaign in recognition of his efforts which have brought an average of two points per game in his six matches in charge.

Shan will add to his coaching team later this week as Albion gear up for a promotion push which now sees the team well placed to challenge through the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs.

“Jimmy has fully earned this opportunity to take us through to the end of the campaign,” said Technical Director Luke Dowling.

“He has earned the support and confidence of the players who have bought into the structural and organisational changes Jimmy has introduced. He has the backing of everyone to push on now and take us forward with momentum.

“Of course he recognises, as do we, that there is space for some more experience to join the coaching group and we expect to be able to clarify this element over the coming days.

“But Jimmy has impressed everyone with the way he has tackled the challenge. He is confident in his abilities, just as we have confidence in him, and he has convinced us all that our best prospects for promotion lie with him overseeing the first team.”

Shan opened his interim regime with three successive wins before setbacks against Millwall and Bristol City. Saturday saw Jimmy record his fourth victory with the 4-1 defeat of Preston which established a nine-point cushion to seventh place.

The Baggies netted 10 goals in their three Hawthorns wins under Shan following a sequence of one home victory in four months.

Jimmy said: “I’m happy that we can now move forward with clear planning and direction for the remainder of the season. It won’t change the work ethic and application of the players and the staff but it enables us to crack on with a clear target in our sights.

“From a personal point of view there is huge, huge pride to be given the responsibility. For me it is a chance to see the journey through that began at the end of last season.

“I’ve heard it said that with two or three extra games we may have stayed up last season. My aim is to make sure we get those extra games at the end of this season and complete our road back to the Premier League.”

Should apologise for accepting our relegation in February..

That car crash against Southampton at home should have meant the end for Pardew and his disastrous reign yet they allowed him to continue his limp towards relegation

That performance today leaves a sour taste in the mouth - just what if we had the change sooner...

We may still have been relegated, but at least we'd have put up a fight and that is what I find so hard to take.

Forgive me for being a thief but I saw this thread on another forum and it seemed a success so we'll try and recapture the Albion moments in here.

Basically, it was a thread dedicated to memories and moments throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s for us more younger ones.

Involved in the thread was a discussion on favourite 'away days' - days which were enjoyable for a number of reasons - be it the game, memorable goals, memorable chants or the urine up on the bus on the way there.

I'm relatively young (believe it or not) so my Albion memories really only stretch from 2003/04 onwards. One thing I do enjoy is the older generation reminiscing about days gone by - for me its a learning curve.

So there you have it folks - post your stories of your memories of following the Albion. They can be funny, weird or damn right stupid.

But its a trip down memory lane, ay it?

I didn't actually realise things were that bad. Saido Berahino has scored 9 of those 20 goals.

Our next top goalscorer is Craig Dawson with two goals.

We're not getting enough goals from any of our other strikers nor our midfield.

Under Pulis it's a record I can't see improving greatly.

Baring that in mind - what's the priority for us? Bringing in new firepower to ease the burden on Berahino or some changes in the midfield? As well as a potential new signing in that area.

..are getting away very lightly in my opinion.

There's only so long we can continue to lambast head coaches without looking elsewhere.

All of them are under-performing, failing to do the basics. All of them leaving their boss that they apparently like, hanging out to dry in a cauldron of abuse.

They have successfully seen off Clarke, Mel and we can now add Irvine to the list seen as he's not got long left.

I'm quite frankly ashamed of them. They do not the deserve the applause they received yesterday whilst others received large-scale abuse.

Some of them need to buck up their ideas quickly - and a few need selling in the summer. Laughable to think that many of them got ridiculous contract extentions.

Markus Rosenberg - never given a chance in his favoured position and had to contend with the in-form Shane Long and Romelu Lukaku. Proven elsewhere but not afforded the opportunity to show his worth here.

Northern Ireland got their first away win in four years to beat Hungary.

Scotland lost 2-1 in Germany in a game where I thought they deserved a point.

Wales play Albania away tomorrow.

I've been asked to post this - it is nothing to do with this forum. It has been organised by like minded supporters who have no connection to this forum but have asked us to politely make this request for them.

An away signing section has been created for away games this season. There is a small allocation that has been attributed to this section and the tickets can be purchased in person, over the phone or via the internet.

All you need to do is ask for your tickets to be attributed to the singing section - alternatively, if you are buying them online you can email the ticket office tickets@wbafc.co.uk and ask for them to be placed in the section. Mark your email FAO of Lee.

The section has been running since the back end of last season and has had a very positive impact with our away fans making plenty of noise.

West Bromwich Albion are in talks with Greece international Georgios Samaras over a potential Bosman free transfer to the Hawthorns.

The Baggies have discussed terms over a potential move to The Hawthorns with the 29-year-old, who can play centrally or wide.

Samaras is without a club following an emotion exit from Celtic at the end of his Parkhead contract.

Malaga have already spoken to the player, who has been in Spain for talks over a potential move to the La Liga club.

But Albion would appeal on the basis that he would only need to relocate his family south of the border.

It has been suggested in Greece that Samaras could make a decision over his future before the weekend.

Sevilla, Hamburg and Lokomotiv Moscow have been linked with the forward.
