Couldn’t find any old topics, mods move if necessary.

Looks as though we are bringing in a new GK coach:

Alan Nixon: WEST BROM. New member of staff coming. Keeper coach. Gary Walsh. Goes back a long way with Darren Moore. Experienced.

It'll be nice for him to be able to breathe again  :-X .
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.
Oh, and always remember to defecate on those Vile chaps in claret and spew.

Gary Walsh was instrumental in #avfc twice taking Sam Johnstone - now #wba No.1 - on loan. They have a very good working relationship so this move makes sense. Walsh also a former team-mate of Darren Moore.

is that one of the criteria now down the Albion you have to have been a former team mate of Darren Moore to get job?

The problem owners and managers have is that they are "professionals" and as so have shorter term goals than we, the fans, do. We're here for life, so if you offered us a scenario that would take 4 years to gather an momentum at all, then 8 years to get to Europe and 15 years to challenge for the Prem title i think most would say yeah, sign us up. The owners and managers need results within a year or there are dire consequences.

Moore is hiring people he knows he can trust. It makes perfect sense. We might miss out on a few unknown talents, but also, we won't get massive wastes of space either.

Its the same problem as playing the kids in the 1st team. A kid will make mistakes, its part of learning, but those mistakes may well cost us goals and thus games (Leko in the Prem for example). I do wish he'd play the kids more, but it makes sense as to why he trusts a bunch of 28 year old journeymen more.

Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

This is another concerning thing for me, that makes me think Moore might just be another dinosaur manager; the jobs for the boys club. Mears is the most obvious example.
