solo_baggie, I take your point. £4.5m is quite a sum, for someone who isn't "proven."
It could prove a waste, or it could be a bargain.
End of the day, people have been screaming for JP to spend money, and take a "bit of a risk/gamble."
This is one of them, but we have still had the sense to cover our own backside.
We could have steamed in and bought him for £8m, with no fall back for ourselves, like other clubs do their business. We have however got him for nearly HALF of that fee, will only pay extra if he hits parameters that WE set, and we've got him ready for the first game.
In my opinion, the only thing that people can possibly moan about is "wasting £4.5m on a striker that can't score." But we won't know this until the end of the season, will we?!
