Bloody hell he was a player. He really was going to be something special but for those two horrendous car crashes.

Sleep well Shuv, rest in peace.

Sleep easy Graham.  Saw him in March at a meeting in Sutton and a true gentleman you could wish to meet.

Another one taken too soon.

Another of the 1968 cup final team to leave us - touch & go who would play in the Final, Graham or Asa Hartford, obviously Graham got it and played well in mid -field.

Condolences to the Family.

A giant of a man and a  player. How he came back from those two accidents was a miracle, but he was determined to make such a good recovery. He once said he needed an "oil can" when he had a knock. A privilege and a pleasure to have watched him. RIP

How many more rocks can this season throw at us? A great player in a great side, could have become our best ever. He was being likened to Duncan Edwards.
R.I.P. Graham, an Albion great.

I remember, when he broke into the first team as teenager, the media of the day likened him to the great Duncan Edwards.

He really did have that potential, but following his two car crashes, as mentioned further up this thread, he never quite hit those dazzling heights again.

However, I can still see him executing those pinpoint passes that were his trademark. His accuracy of pass over any distance, long or short and, invariably, straight to a colleague was a sight to behold. When passing he seemed to adopt a kind of crouched position, he'd look, take aim and deliver a pass all in one action that was poetry in motion and true as an arrow leaving a bow and hitting the bullseye, fantastic!

He was a member of the 1966 League Cup winning side and the 1968 FA Cup winning side. They were unforgettable moments, particularly watching him and the other members of that 1968 FA Cup Winning team collecting their medals and parading the cup round Wembley to the cheers of joyous fans. That day will live forever in the memory and Graham helped make it possible, thank you Graham Lovett!!

A real privilege to have seen many of Graham's matches...what a talent!
Do I remember him hitting the bar in the '69 semi final...perhaps somebody would help an old un's memory.

I cor remember him hitting the bar ( he may well have ) but I will always remember Shuv in the FA Cup final hitting on ball that went well wide, he said in later years that he shouted to Tony Brown not to give him the ball but Bomber did and he shut his eyes and waited for the cheer but all he heard was groans.

I remember that incident and also read his later comments. From memory he also scored at the Custard Bowl down in front of the South Bank one time. Seem to think it was a game we lost 2-1 (for younger posters yes, the Wolves did used to occasionally beat us).

Hell of a player he could have been. Fate can be cruel.
