Coronavirus Thread / Vaccine passports
« on: April 03, 2021, 06:35:08 AM »
Personally I am for travel, it's relatively easy to apply and enforce.
For pubs, restaurants and all everyday applications I don't see how it can accurately be enforced.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Warm weather training
« on: January 10, 2019, 06:36:21 AM »
Off to Dubai apparently after the Norwich game for a spot of warm weather training.
Hope the outcome is better than the last away gathering as I don't think the Dubai authorities are quite so easy going as their counterparts in Barcelona

West Bromwich Albion FC / My worry................
« on: July 08, 2018, 06:33:18 PM »
is that at present apart  from signing Johnstone, the signings that being mentioned seemed to be our second options a best.
Collins being mentioned! He might do a job for a season but if we're looking to the future, Collins and the like are stop gaps at best, we seem to be in this position every year.
I just hope that we can hang onto the likes of Phillips, Jrod, a fit Morrison, Livermore, Gibbs. Without them I fear what we might replace them with, and time is getting ever shorter.
I fear another supermarket dash.

West Bromwich Albion FC / In and Outs
« on: June 26, 2018, 07:00:20 PM »
Well here we are 26th June, just over 6 weeks to go to the start of our Championship 'adventure' and what have we done so far.

                                 Ins                                                                         Outs
                                                                                                          Krychowiak
                                                                                                          Sturridge
                                                                                                          McAuley
                                                                                                          Yacob
                                                                                                          Myhill
                                                                                                          Evans
                                                                                                          Gabr

It's a bit early to panic but it wont be long before we are.

Who's overseeing our transfer activity and who's been scouting the players that we need?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Aspirations for next season
« on: May 16, 2018, 06:42:02 AM »
I see we're installed as second favourites for promotion next season along with Stoke 7/1
Swansea are just favourites at 6/1
Will we all be glad to avoid a double dip or are we genuine contenders?

Jeremy Roland Peace.

As a football club we are in disaray and this mess needs sorting sooner rather than later.
Who's better than JP to do just that?
He presided so efficiently over our yo=yo years, the current management team from top to bottom is useless.
JP your club needs you

Well we've seen it in action.
What do you think.
After last night it should be called Scouse TV.
Farcical IMO, total miss use of the system.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Loanees
« on: April 11, 2017, 10:54:36 AM »
Just wondering how we will be viewed by other teams when we approach them for players on loan, given the Gnabry fiasco last season and now Galloway recalled back to Everton early.
Having said that the defensive side of Galloway's game wasn't that good.
The idea of loaning players out is so that they get game time away from the parent club something neither of those two actually got.
Perhaps neither were good enough for Tony, if that's the case he needs to have a word with the recruitment department to make sure we at least get a loanee that will push for a regular starting berth.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Club scouting system
« on: January 05, 2017, 07:40:55 PM »
Just reading about this lad Cohen Bramall.
Arsenal took a punt on him for £40k.
How come London scouts get in ahead of the local clubs.
He might be pants but at £40k surely worth a punt?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Points tally
« on: March 08, 2016, 12:31:10 PM »
From the games we have left

Arsenal - 0 points
Norwich - 3 points
Sunderland - 3 points
Man City - 0 points
Watford - 3 points
Spurs - 1 point
West Ham - 1 point
Bournemouth - 1 point

Who do you fancy then boys?
Draw Monday at 7pm.
Need a nice easy passage first game, maybe the wolves?

Dermott Gallagher puts his paddle in pointing out that Olsson blocked off Mertesaker when Mozza equalised, but managed not to see Mertesaker block Olsson off when Giroud scored  ;D

West Bromwich Albion FC / Seasons Finishing Place
« on: November 10, 2015, 02:59:36 PM »
According to the Talk Sport Super Computer we are down to finish 14th with 42 points.
Our nearest and dearest down the road are predicted to finish 18th with 33 points.

I'd settle for that right now.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Should Brunty have taken the Penalty?
« on: August 24, 2015, 06:42:19 AM »
Only noticed it on match of the day last night but Brunty tried to take the ball off Morrison as he was walking to place the ball on the spot and Mozza shoved him away.
On reflection Brunty was probably a better option.
If Berahino had been on the pitch then he would have taken it but did we miss a basic here by not appointing a back up penalty taker before the start of the game.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Curse of the Calendar
« on: June 02, 2015, 09:17:52 AM »
I reckon any decent players that we sign and want to keep should not feature on the club calendar:

January we had OIsson:- could be going
February we had Dorrans:- Gone
March we had Ideye:- Staying at the moment
April we had Samaras:- Gone
May we have Berahino:- Could be a goner
June we have Mulumbu:- Gone
July we have Gamboa:- Gone
August we have Foster:- out injured most of the season
September we have Poco:- All but a goner
October we have Lescott:- seems safe
November we have Brunty:- seems safe
December we have Gardner:- seems safe

Its nothing to do with the management , I tell you it's the Curse of the Calendar

PS Adverising Dept :can we get big Vic on January for next years calendar?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Final League Table based on current form.
« on: March 24, 2015, 01:23:50 PM »
Interesting reading having us finishing 12th and the scutters down the road staying up as well based on current form.
I'd settle for that right now.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Is Terry Burton blameless?

Is Terry Burton blameless in all of this latest debacle, after all he's the one I assume has the say on what platers are coming in?

Looks like a pretty low key release, anybody bought it?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Bringing in Burton to assist Garlick
« on: May 08, 2014, 08:12:41 AM »
Hopefully a change for the better, we've been pretty awful now for the best part of 2 seasons with the exception of the odd good performance that has masked an underlying problem.
According to it the club might be looking at appointing Terry Burton to assist Garlick in the player recruitment side of the job.

So just maybe JP knows how lucky we have been this season and is starting to do something about it.
Fingers crossed eh?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Where does Anelka fit in?
« on: September 29, 2013, 09:24:53 AM »
The way the team played yesterday with Victor, Sess, Amalfitano and Bariniho in the starting berth can any one see where we would shoe horn Anelka into that team.
Personally if these four are on form and keep delivering Anelka is a non starter for me.
I thought the passing movement and commitment of the team yesterday was unquestionable, when Anelka's on the field I think the team look to him to do something amazing when he gets the ball. Unfortunately I don't think he's capable of doing that now.

Now we know what we have to run with I was wondering how everybody saw the season panning out.
Personally I am more optimistic, the players we have should allow us to have width and pace from the midfield and a bit more creativity.
