Wembley

Aston Villa 0-1 middlesboro

                       Gestede 93

More like:

Aston Villa 0-1 Middlesbrough
                       Gestede '120+6

Possession
Villa 92% - 8% Boro

Chances created
Villa 25 - 1 Boro

Either way that'd be a s***ty scenario for us if it's a shoot out between Pulis or Villa

won't Villa be in some financial trouble if they don't go up this season. they still have quite a high wage bill.

Read somewhere a while ago they were in about £80,000,000 of debt but this was being reduced. No idea regarding the current state of their finances, but I'm pretty sure the end of next season marks the end of their parachute money. If they're not up by then I'd imagine they'll be pretty much fkd for a while.

Are you talking about the competition that no English club will ever win again because it doesn't exist any more? If so, I do vaguely remember it. Villa won it once did they?

And just to put things into prospective, didn't another Midland Club, a club alot smaller than the mighty Vile win it in two consecutive seasons, now that's an achievement in European Cup history and they don't keep baning on and on about what was a superb and outstanding achievement.

It's an indictment on the Vile, who, according to their fans are one of the top six clubs in the country, that they can only keep reminding us all of a solitary win, shame on them  :P

I've no argument with their assertions regarding history etc. They ARE the biggest club around these here more local parts. They have the most trophies, numbers through the turnstiles over a number of decades and potential for growth.

And yet for a club of their 'size' and with such a large support base over a long period of time etc; a club who was on a par with Manchester United no less trophy wise when Fergy was appointed, they really have massively under achieved over the years haven't they?

Just had a little look over yonder hedge.

They really, really don't like Mr Bruce.

Can't say I blame them really.

I've heard Alan Pardew's looking for a job, and reckon TP may be looking for one too if Boro miss out on promoiton.

They wouldn't.......... or would they  ;D ?

I don't really know what would blow my frock up the most,
seeing the snivelling little chytes crying at a Wembley thrashing or listening the phone ins if they get relegated at the end of the season.

According to John Percy the Villa are drinking in the last chance saloon.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/05/25/aston-villa-facing-financial-disaster-fail-make-premier-league/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

To be honest I cannot remember a game which didn't involve the Baggies where I was so desperate for a team to win.

Just for the sake of clarity come on Fulham.  ;D

Be nice to see them do a fire sale, get hit with a transfer embargo and a point deduction to give them a helping hand to the third tier

The Viles loss today couldn’t have happened on a better day, for in future when I have one of them banging on about their European Cup victory, I will ask them the date of that victory and I will respond, was that the date you lost to Fulham in the Championship play off?  ;D

That's them ruined now, they'll be the next Leeds. They can't afford to sign Snodgrass, Grabban or Johnstone on permanent deals, Terry will be off, they have an ageing squad and have almost ran out of parachute payments. John Percy said they may even have to sell their training complex. Best chance they've got is to sell the likes of Grealish and Kodjia for as much as possible and try to rebuild with youth from the lower leagues and big PL teams' academy rejects.

This is us in 2 years time if we make the idiotic signings being suggested on the Championship transfer thread and fail to get promoted.

I should be sickened to say this, but I shall be bathing in the misery of others after todays games. But for many reasons, I don’t care. What a great end to an otherwise dreadful season.  :D

Bruce said if they fail to go up, then their squad next season will look 'very different', i.e. far cheaper players. Supposedly Snodgrass and Terry will both leave, being too expensive under their cuts.

That's the idea from some of the papers anyway, but only time will tell. Personally I could see it happening, but I don't think they would be relegated for instance, just massively weakened.
