Well given that the East Stand holds some of the most expensive seats in the ground the club are hardly likely to be willing to lose that money to take a risk on Wigan/ Fulham etc selling their allocations and then every week having to give up a couple of hundred seats for segregation not to mention the extra expense outside the ground moving all the railings, possibly losing some of the car park spaces for that same reason.

I think the mock up is a great piece of work ... would like to see a similar view with a mirror of the East stand replacing the West stand (if anyone has the time/inclination/skill!) - beyond my 'Paint' skills unfortunately !

Totally unviable and also dated design.
the most likely and viable outcome is the removal of the roof and a structure (with most support structure) behind the  stand and then cantilevered over the 'executive balcony'. This reduces the need to go over the road and to demolish all of the stand which has had very recent renovation

This is what Manchester United did when adding upper tiers to an existing lower tier built in another time period.

I think this is a good mockup of what the expansion should look like:

That's a good idea, just re-build/ re-open pubs near the ground and show live streamed football. No need for expansion then!

Good news!

What specifically did they approve?

Approved what?

The only thing I can see on the planning website agreed yesterday around by the ground was a move of a green cable box. :)

Why would WBA be given special dispensation to not appear on the SMBC planning portal? If this has been agreed then they would have submitted a plan three months ago. What about neighbours consultation?

To be fair, not all planning applications appear on the website, I believe it does say that somewhere on there.

But surely we would have heard something as the residents would have been informed?

Yes I know, but why have WBA been given special dispensation not to appear on there?

From the website - NOTE: For reasons of confidentiality, Sandwell MBC may choose not to display certain Planning Applications.

I just want to know how someone on the forum knows about it. Until then as far as I'm concerned there are no firm plans!

Who says they have? We only have the word of one poster that it's been agreed.

Or if the club are paying for the roadworks outside (which I understand is an issue), they may have a deal agreed where they cannot discuss it.

I dunno!  ;D

I think there was always a chance that work would start end of next season with the cap on season tickets that was introduced.

Woh! Calm down dear! ;)

No one is having a go mate just questioning the authenticity.

I can see it from your side, but also there have been plenty of people on here who are not in the know on the wind up so it does work both ways.

Anyway, from your info, is it a completely new stand or adding of a tier on top of the existing stand?

I haven't said I don't believe you I just wanted to know why it hasn't appeared on SMBC and why have we been given special dispensation for that.

Is it a total rebuild or a second tier on top of the existing?

From someone I spoke to it will be a second tier added to the existing stand, though it's going to be pretty steep because of over overhanging the Halfords Lane.
