West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: The Athletic

Article is bang on about lack of connection with the players, said to my old man a few weeks back that I don't really feel anything for this lot. My old man is 63 years old, he always has a 'favourite' that's 'his' player but even he said to me he doesn't feel connected to a single player in this group. He hasn't missed a home game for 20 years prior to this season, this season he's missed 2 and won't be attending Saturday either as he just isn't enjoying it and this is a man who backed Pulis. If Dyke can be that man who can unite the team and the fans again then he will be worth the money we paid and more.

Livermore and Molumby are dire, regardless of the formation.
Agreed but Just working with what we have, rather have 3 donkeys in the middle than 2 ;D

3
4 3 3 Livermore infront of the defence, Mowatt slightly further forward and Molumby your runner.  Get the ball up to Dyke and have your quicker wingers like Grady and Grant playing off him, actually bring back the press.

Not a fan of VI but this team we have is utter dross but he doesn't help himself. Allardyce identified the vast majority of our first 11 and bombed them all the out the time so we have to look at the squad and realise were basically playing the B team from last year, combined with a poor style of play and no investment from invisible owners its no wonder we are in the state we are.

As for VI himself, it's obvious he is out of his depth and looks like he's lost the players. Needs to go ASAP, might be an unpopular opinion but I was never this bored under Pulis as we atleast still had a few players who could play football left over now it's Pulis football with rubbish players and rubbish results.

Our down turn in form happened as soon as he was injured, probably a coincidence but he's a big loss for us so happy he's back.

I just don’t understand what system we’re playing? We’re not pressing from the front and engaging their defenders, we have 3 defenders that are just sitting back. Wing backs that aren’t overlapping. The middle 2 are just doing nothing. There’s no pattern to out play I actually don’t know what we’re doing with the ball.
This is what i feel as well, feel like ishmaels given up on plan A and left us with this disjointed mess. Need to start pressing like earlier in the season.

Really lacking creativity in this side, we don't have anyone who can beat a man or create something.

Looks like he's lost the players as well as the fans, they do not look happy and haven't looked happy for a while. No plan B and seems like he's threw Plan A out the window as well, hasn't been backed by the board but hasn't helped himself either. Needs to go now.

I've give him the benefit of the doubt but he well and truly lost me tonight, absolutely disgusting attempt at the end.

Had to leave at 65 minutes but Molumby was superb today, good tackle, lot of energy some intelligent passes to keep the ball. Got to start next game even if Jake is back.

Molumby been superb first half, reading the game so well and Snodgrass complimenting him well. Hugilll should of had 4, but Bristol City look dreadful should be a hammering really.

Lost me tonight, stubborn, unwilling to change. Dreadful, dreadful football. Squad being absolutely dreadful doesn't help but not looking like getting better.

Poor, poor performance but 3 points. Townsend brilliant all game, Mulumby looked a good footballer would like to see more, Clarke solid. Everyone else woeful apart from Grant bit of magic. We're really lacking players who can beat a man, we have no one who can go past someone and create space for someone else. Val not been backed at all and it shows but seems reluctant to change which is clearly not working but I think whatever formation we play doesn't change the players, who are just average. But even after all that, top of the league and only lost once.

Just boring, only one word to describe it. Townsend only one trying to make something happen, players don't look happy either. Lack someone who can beat a man or pick a pass, just a bunch of average footballers.

Heard someone describe the football as foosball which just about sums it up, whack it up they whack it back and teams are happy to accept the point against one of the 'bigger' teams in the division.

The real issue is I feel like we have set up with the 'B' team from last season, barely any of these players outside the defenders was first choice last season and poor recruitment has left us with a first team squad of forward/midfielders who should be bench options really if we want to be back in the prem.

Impressed me tonight, held the ball up well and seemed to link up well with Grady. Seems quicker than i thought as well, like to see him start with Grady and Robinson either side.
