Liverpool are lining up a shock summer swoop for Motherwell winger Chris Humphrey.

Liverpool could launch a shock summer move for Motherwell winger Chris Humphrey
The Jamaican-born midfielder has attracted attention from a host of Barclays Premier League clubs following an impressive season in the Scottish Premier League, helping Stuart McCall's side reach the Scottish Cup final.

Newcastle, Bolton, Birmingham and Everton are all said to be tracking the fleet-footed 22-year-old who signed a one-year contract extension with Motherwell in January to keep him at the club until 2013,
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to add more depth to his squad in the close-season with Aston Villa's Ashley Young his leading target. But Humphrey is also on his list and considered a talent with a promising future.

Humphrey, who began his career at Walsall before moving onto Shrewsbury, via West Bromwich Albion, where he spent three years before becoming former Motherwell boss Jim Gannon's second signing in 2009.

Liverpool are reportedly sending a scout to monitor his performance at Hampden Park when Motherwell take on Celtic on May 21 bidding to win only their second Scottish Cup since winning their first in 1991.
Humphrey, however, would find it difficult leaving Fir Park. The club were deeply supportive of him when his partner sadly lost their unborn baby shortly after joining the club.

Speaking when he signed his new contract at the beginning of the year, Humphrey said: 'When the club approached me and asked if I would sign an extension to my contract it was an immediate answer.
