I'm scratching my head here to think of anybody who has connections with both clubs and lost his dream job due to allegations of dodgy dealing. mmmmmmmmm now who can it be?   ::)

this could be more serious than it first appeared, its been a joint French/British police investigation into serious fraud, but then again it involves West Ham so nothing will happen. horrible club.

Thinking about this do you guys think that this could relate back in anyway to Big Sam?
Especially after him being cought out during his England stint?
Didn't he work for Newcastle and WHU?
Plenty of French players in Newcastle not sure about Why poyet?
Brings back memories of brown paper bags and bungs etc.
Thought that all this had gone away obviously not so by the look of things.
I know the wheels of HMC go slowly but could it cost both clubs points reduction for next season?....Interesting times eh?

The Newcastle end of the investigation seems to be focusing on the Sylvain Marveaux deal which happened way after Allardyce was at the club.

The Premier League has clear rules on the tax affairs of it's clubs which basically mean they have to comply with all the relevant PAYE and National Insurance rules and submit an annual return showing that they have paid any tax due.  What is not clear is what sanction the league has against clubs that breach those rules. I suspect they deal with them on a case by case basis depending on the severity of the breach.

I'm not a tax lawyer but this doesn't look like a small accounting error so Newcastle and West Ham could be in very hot water indeed. Although from the League's point of view this might be the tip of a very large iceberg so unless they want to start a season with half the teams in the League on a minus points total they might not want to apply the ultimate sanction

Chelsea have been visited by HMRC as part of a "wider fraud investigation", no search or arrests but HMRC want "certain information".

I wouldn't be too quick to kick these clubs tempting as it is because this might only be the beginning of a lengthy investigation and by the end we all could be in the same boat.

That said I think it is fair to say that in all these cases the owners of these clubs in their other businesses have  a record of pushing to the edge of legality to squeeze the last penny from them. There is no reason to think they wouldn't do the same at the clubs they now own.

It will do. It is an ongoing criminal investigation and there is no requirement to update anyone. You will know if they make further arrests.
