Performances are dipping at a bad time , we don't look as solid as we did a few months back . Time and time again Stoke got through our lines unchallenged , we didn't look sharp at all .

Really?  :o

Blimey, I'm a realist and call a game as it is and call players out for being bang average when they are, but first and foremost I am an Albion fan and always want us to win.
You call it as you see it , like ever other member.

Can't argue with 7 goals and 7 assists considering he doesn't always start and missed 5 weeks for Afcon .
I'm still not sold on the number 10 role but CC knows more than me! ;D

Teams aren't going to roll over , we need to win the right to play .
Carlos needs to accept Grady is too weak for the middle.

Need to get hold of the middle , I'd switch to M'Villa Okay with Mowatt in front of them .
Fellows on too

Palmer is decent enough for where we are , where we have been and what we can afford . He's our best keeper at the minute and thats not going at JG who has great potential .
I don't think Palmer is on Johnstone levels but he's good enough right now.

Looked very impressive, beating his man numerous times. His lack of end product - a pass, cross, shot - concerned me but we definitely have something to work with here.
Agree with that and it mirrors a lot of what Celtic fans said , certainly something to work with.

Thought those 3 subs were wrong , Johnstone should have stayed on.

Very strange , commiting that sort of money yet would only own a small percent of the club .
Something doesnt add up here not least NDA's .

Thought he had his best game of the season yesterday noticeably playing a lot deeper than  usual maybe a 3 man midfield is better for him as he doesn’t havto do quite so much running.
Agree , he always looks better in a 3.

Fair enough, had a look and the shoulder injury kept him out for 2 months. I don't believe anyone mentioned it ever being a concern at the time though.

I remember the talk when we signed him was that he'd actually played too much football. He had a season in the MLS, then went to Barnsley for 6 months before going straight back into a new MLS season.
I wish him well naturally but the shoulder injury added to his serious injuries here at such a young age...it doesn't bode well.

You don't want to lose let alone to them but overall we put on a decent show with Premier League finishing being the main difference . We had our chances with Wallace's unmarked header being the main one 1st half , you have to take them.
Takeover depending we are heading in the right direction.

That attempt at a tackle from Swift was pathetic , he owes now

No we didn't? He'd never had a major injury before we signed him.

There's some strange revisionism going on in this thread and I have no idea where it's come from, there's not a single post in the first few pages of this thread referring to injuries.
Had a bad shoulder injury at Orlando in all fairness , think it was 5 months out but most of it fell during the off season.

He is a waste of space, time and money,  as i said when we signed him. But as usual no one listened.
Bit harsh , the only thing we had to go on was his Barnsley form which was decent . I thought at the time we paid too much but could get over that due to his young age , I'd have been more annoyed had he still been too heavy but to be fair he looks slimmer on this latest return.

Compleat Angler / Coach and Horses 1 rest of the day 0 .
Poor , no cutting edge and mentally weak when going behind.
Asking too much of certain players away from home in my humble view , time for Carlos to change his system on our travels.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Andi Weimann signs on loan official
« on: January 21, 2024, 09:48:28 AM »
Fan reaction to the Weimann signing was predictable and disappointing at the same time. He’s old, slow, technically limited and doesn’t do anything any of our other attacking players don’t already do.
Wrong side of 30 but looking at him live Yesterday I wouldn't say slow . Given 2 of our attackers are done for the season , one is injury prone and other injuries elsewhere its the best we can hope for as we are skint .
To be fair Weimann should have an assist to his name with the header down to Dike Yesterday.

It absolutely smacks of Albrighton mark 2
I think Albrighton struggled with the amount of games we had in a short time in this league , at least Weimann knows all about it .
Quietly confident this will work out well .

The FFP will mean that no matter who takes over it will be a one out and one in scenario.
Lets not forget theres a large number out of contract in 6 months too.

Think he only missed something like 5 games with that shoulder injury.
From memory he was playing for the US when it happened in the Summer , may have been 5 club games but he was injured for 2 months in total . Fact is Dike is on the verge of being labelled injury prone and I don't see that changing . I'm not keen on rumours of him refusing to provide us with 10 mins either , If somebody came in with an offer of 5m I'd snap their hands off as much as he seems a good lad.

We got 23 games out of him last season.
Before he came to us he'd hardly been injured so hardly injury prone.
Not quite true , he had a big shoulder injury at Orlando.
Obviously I want him fit for us but those type of injuries at that age don't fill you full of confidence.

I’d be wrapping him up in as much cotton wool as is possible. The poor bloke needs a bit of luck, as do we
Personally I think injuries will always be around the corner , might as well start bringing him of the bench for small spells .

Got it wrong today. Selection and subs were far too late to change anything.
Agreed , no issue with his starting players but after thst first 45 changes were needed.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Kyle Bartley
« on: December 18, 2023, 11:53:36 AM »
Surprised no one has mentioned his latest fup yesterday.

His laziness into getting back onto an onside position cost us 2 points.

Get him out when the season is over and use some of his inflated wages to retain CK.

If CC doesn't trust CT sufficiently yet and Pearce cannot find a better, younger and less injury prone defender than him on loan then Pearce should have the very belated decency to leave and take his son with him.
Never thought I'd say this but Bartley has played very well since getting back in , never been much of a fan but can't take it away from him .

Played well enough , if you can't win it don't lose it so after the 3 points midweek its a fair point.
