Good signing, should slot into centre midfield nicely alongside Brunty.

Not sure he's cut out for centre half after albeit limited viewing last season.

This is exactly the sort of signing we should be making - young, versatile, cheap, knows the Championship well, and, most importantly, talented. Great news.

This could potentially be the central midfielder we've been waiting for ;)

Exactly what we used to do, we have now bought 2 players who are definitely good enough for the champ, but could also be good enough for the prem if we go up.

Footnote

Let’s not overlook a “Well done” to Luke Dowling and Ian Pearce for recent acquisitions, right ages and fees

Can we wait until we've seen the quality please? It's just that I could go out and sign some youngsters for a few million.  That's the easy bit.

Happy with this signing. Low risk, high reward. Looked impressive last season and should be coming into his prime. I just hope this doesn't end our chances of signing Trevor Chalobah as he is a similar type of player as whoever gets him as got a real player in their hands for a season.

He's right though. He is the type of player that would compliment Brunt perfectly in CM.

Deadly serious. Finally we've got someone with an engine who breaks up play and can do Brunts running and tackling. We've got zero quality on the ball in central midfield aside from Brunt.

Will compliment each other perfectly.

We seemed to have moved away from signing utility players/players who cover multiple positions, so getting somebody in to provide cover for 2 key spinal positions is great news. Rotherham fans really rate him and he is the right age, albeit i'm not sure which position is best for him. Most of the descriptions say "central defender" but every Rotherham fan seems to say "he is better in midfield than defence", so the only risk is that he gets caught in a bit of a positional purgatory of being moved around and persisted with in a place that doesn't suit him.

At the price, even if he was a sub it's a solid bit of business. First signing since Holgate where I have thought Dowling has got it spot on.

I just can't see that happening Jacko. If we play 2 in midfield, you would think Krovinovic will take the role Brunt has, and if we play 5 in midfield he will be competing with Livermore, Harper and Field, and there is no guarantee Bilic will prefer the 34 going on 35 year old converted left midfielder.

Even when the clubs management are seen to be concurring with the overall direction that fans want them to take the club, there’s still no positivity and optimism.

They can never win, there will always be some negativity. Why not applaud genuine attempts to move the club forward, we could spend £20m on a player and he might not come off.

Boingingalong's comment was in relation to the post that said Dowling deserves credit for both the Zohore and Ajayi signings. I think there are HUGE question marks over Zohore so no, we should wait and see before lavishing praise on a man who has up to this point not met the standard required.

It's a fair point he made though, the proof is in the pudding. These lads haven't kicked a ball in anger. That said I'm pleased with the signings on paper but Dowling especially needs them to work on grass.

Outstanding business for that price. He’s a player I desperately wanted us to go for so hopefully he will come up with the goods - whether that’s as a CB or CDM.

Only a few days ago, he was being criticised  for being inactive with and no signings on the horizon. Now they are coming in there is no recognition of the direction and type of player that are being recruited. Indeed every new signing is a risk, but shouldn’t we at least celebrate the new culture and philosophy the club is trying to embrace and encourage that?
