If he wants Newcastle, I wouldn't be surprised if he rejects the move.

Bournemouth haven't accepted Newcastles bid so he might not have much choice unless they step it up.

If he is FORCED to go down to Witton, his heart won't be in the game.

Clive, I honestly think that Bournemouth are in no position to “force” him to do what he doesn’t want to do.

He has expressed a preference for Newcastle so, it remains to be seen.  :)

Also offered big money to Arsenal for their reserve goal keeper.

Grealish about to exit stage left?

Villa are spending 9 figures (or trying to at least) regardless of the Grealish sale. Owners want to secure their top flight status no matter what it costs.

I think he'll score goals, but if he only gets 8-10 a season (a reasonable estimate), thay fee just ends up looking astronomical. Fees have got ridiculous now, no need for it. It's totally artificial.

Wow, the Vile don’t mind paying through the nose when it comes to strikers. Still, a less risky signing than Callum Wilson. £28million though, jeez, that is eye-watering for one good season in the Championship. 🤨

The the Gunners are also anticipating a third bid from Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez as they hold out for close to £20m for the 28-year-old Argentine goalkeeper. (Mail)

Aston Villa want to sign Bournemouth and Norway forward Joshua King, but the 28-year-old would prefer a move to Manchester United after a deal to go to Old Trafford broke down in the January transfer window. (The Athletic - subscription required)

They're certainly trying to splash the cash again this season, let's hope they achieve better outcomes than last season, RELEGATION!!!!

So much for that release clause..

There WAS a £18m clause it was just weak and pointless which is where the confusion comes from

"He had an unusual clause inserted into his contract, whereby Brentford had to inform the player of any interest from a club who was willing to pay £18 million for his services.

It was an entry-level clause, though, and Brentford’s plan all along was for it to go to an auction. They could still choose whether to accept or reject offers and in the end, they got more than they initially imagined."

From Athletic today.

Says Spurs were favourites a few days back but not willing to pay over the odds like villa

Villa are going crazy with the cash again - well over £60m this summer alongside their ridiculous spend last year. If they go down, they surely have to be in a bit of bother. Maybe they know Grealish will fetch £60m and a few other sales on top might save them.

Martinez is a great keeper mind. Villa building a decent side now with these recent signings.

Villa are still a largely poor outfit. If they get Martinez that's a good signing. Watkins is a gamble for £30mil they need it to come off. Still really only have grealish and mcginn that are any good

Watkins will be licking his lips with the service Grealish provides . Wasn’t Grealish the second highest chance maker in the league ? Watkins will thrive off that , I can see him getting the 15 goal target . Also with a decent keeper that improves their defence massively. Their problems last season was scoring goals and letting them in . These two signings will go a long way in stopping that .

Honestly don’t think they will struggle and will finish around 12th/13th
