The only thing in Wales' favour now is that if England lose Saturday, they can wave a white flag against Australia. Only they can't, because Garland's squad selection is poor. They have, now, two specialist 15's, but only two wingers. One of whom is shocking. Phil Dolman should be in not Tyler Morgan offering greater scope and flexibility in the backplane and more importantly quality.

Hibbard should be there not Moriarty and Rhys Priestland is a waste of a place too. Garland's squad is no longer geared for rotation.
all about opinions. Phil Dolman hasn't been involved in the setup and I assume there must be a reason for it - it probably doesn't do him any favours playing in Exeter as far as national selection goes.
I'm not sure who you are classing as the 2 specialist fullbacks ? Presumably Liam Williams and Matthew Morgan. Matthew Morgan is just as much a No. 10 as a fullback though he is viewed more of a fullback at international level. Liam Williams is out with concussion from the England game.
I assume the shocking winger is Cuthbert - he's not playing well but don't forget he's done very well in big matches in the past. Eli Walker would have been in contention but of course he's injured.
If Wales were full strength Gatland would pick Halfpenny at fullback, North and Liam Williams on the wings which is how they finished the last 6 nations.

1 specialist 15 really, Anscombe I'd class as our second. Morgan's a 10 as simple as that. Dolman's a regular in a very good Exeter side and has Heineken Cup rugby at the very least under his belt. His age is against him but his experience is better than anybody else's. He's a tremendous player equally comfortable in the midfield. Should've been a no brainer. Would've opened our options up tremendously.

Williams' injury resulted in an automatic two week absence as protocol states. Naturally that would've been the case with our three quarters but at present two are out and we have a very inexperienced, far from outstanding, player at 13 courtesy of Davies, Williams, Beck and Allen all sidelined.

Sat at home is a proven English Premiership player capable of playing 13, or 15 allowing Williams to go out wide if/when fit. Or if you're staunch on playing Williams 15 Dolly's then our third choice winger.

Cuthbert has been shocking at best, his form is zero and if Amos wasn't injured even he'd be in front of him. Which says it all. Garland's one of the best in the game but Dolly should be in that squad. Blunder.

It seems to be inconsistent the way they apply 'Gatland's Law' re players needing to be based in Wales and Dolman seems to be on the wrong side of that.
I don't think they'd play Morgan at 10 at international level as he'd be targeted as a defensive weakness.
Anyway lets hope a couple of days off recharges the batteries.

Hook's in, though admittedly scraping the barrell, don't see why for one tournament he can't bend a little further. Role on 9.30pm.

Mike Brown. Danny Cipriani. The two biggest clowns in world rugby right now. Quite simply were nowhere near good enough. Beaten by a decimated Welsh side and taken apart by Australia. Who'll do the same to Wales Sat.

HT of Argo v Ton and they're still talking England? FFS. WHY?

Can possibly add Ben Youngs to the list of clowns with his 'give them a reason to quit' comments before the game.
I did enjoy the watching Australia play with the quick inter-passing probing the holes in the England defence.
Feel sorry for Robshaw and Lancaster....yes they've made mistakes but with a normal world cup group they'd have had smooth progress to the knock out stages and a chance to build momentum...20 minutes of hell against Wales has cost them big time.

I just found a carrier bag with an England rugby shirt in it, lying abandoned on the pavement - I can't believe it's been thrown away.
Those bags are worth 5p now!

Really looking forward to Ireland v France today, think in terms of quality it could be the best of the group stages.

He's had a very healthy pay off, and in terms of rugby performances its far more complex than football. The entire backroom staff of the rugby set up should have gone. If the RFU don't approach Rob Baxter they all need to go.

Are you an Exeter fan by any chance Scooby ?
Shaun Edwards has held off signing a renewal with Wales probably in the hope of being involved in the England setup...can't see him being No 1 but I would think that he would be in the frame for defence coach whoever takes over.

I used to go to Perry Barr as a kid,
Am I right in saying that in the 40's - 50's the size of Speedway crowds rivalled football?

I had a "discussion" about this with my lad, and I struggled to find any data.
the road to the summit has dips, keep the faith when navigating those dips !!

No. I follow them just because of Dolly. I support a Semi-Pro outfit. Baxter has revolutionized Exeter, as a Welshman I sincerely hope he doesn't get approached. Amazing coach. Looks unlikely with a foreign coach being mooted.

Why would Edwards sign as defense coach for England? It's a backwards step and would be purely money motivated. I'd be amazed if he went as anything bar head coach.

I think Edwards has whispered about possibly working with England at some stage in the past. He is English after all so he probably has some emotional pull towards England which might mean it's not totally money motivated. He's done almost 8 years with Wales and might fancy a new challenge and working with different people. He's in a strong position to bargain with interested parties anyway. Obviously I'm hoping he stays with Wales also.
