Wood has signed on a 2 1/2 year deal. So in a year's time, they will have to look at renegotiating a new deal or he walks for nothing soon after and very little resale value - unless he knocks in 20 a season.Money sense just does not come into this transfer at all.
Newcastle are far wealthier than Man City so I doubt they care about over spending. I actually think it's an ok signing considering the circumstances. However I agree he won't be starting in a year, or even within 8 months.
