Wood has signed on a 2 1/2 year deal. So in a year's time, they will have to look at renegotiating a new deal or he walks for nothing soon after and very little resale value - unless he knocks in 20 a season.

Money sense just does not come into this transfer at all.

Newcastle are far wealthier than Man City so I doubt they care about over spending. I actually think it's an ok signing considering the circumstances. However I agree he won't be starting in a year, or even within 8 months.

They’re taking away a fellow relegation teams threat. It may be costly to most, but not these guys.

So are we all Ok with Newcastle having owners from Saudi Arabia? Not having a go at you Argo but we are now marvelling at the cash being spent by the ‘Way Ay’ mob.

If they bought the Albion I would walk away as I cannot condone the regime. I am fully aware that we as a country trade arms with them and I do not agree with that either; there is nothing I can do about that.

Sad to see the way our beautiful game is going

The only good aspect to Newcastle's cash-filled rise will be the relegation of one of the other greedy sides from the golden top six.  Then we'll be able to have a wry smile at their supporters going on about the unfairness of the system that they themselves have exploited over the years.

I think the European super league idea will rise again.  Away games will drain the piggy bank of their supporters.  good riddance.

Hardly surprising.

They have been hideous under him.  Everton are in need of a major reset.

Watching West Ham V Leeds and Craig Dawson is a very decent Premier League player and I'd have him back in heartbeat.

When I look back at the stick he got from some fans, before his tantrum and whilst playing under Pulis................scratches and shakes head!
