Re: Special mention for a special goal-keeper: Ben Foster

Really seemed up for this game. Obviously a great general performance but also added to that was his leadership and character.
Particularly in relation to how he reacted when Reid kicked the ball off his own foot to see it loop over the bar. Gave him a big smile and arm around him, helping boost morale and refocus quickly. Small things like that helped maintain belief in the team - combined with a series of outstanding saves.

I'm not knocking Popov or Jones but how much more diciplined did we look with Reid and Ridgewell  in the slots?
Granted we don't get forward so well but these two help keep our shape a lot better imo.

i definitely agree about Reid, positionally just so much better than jones, even if he lacks pace. Im not so sure there's a big difference between ridgewel and popov defensively, i suppose ridgewell takes less risks bombing forward and is good in the air.

Which is what's needed in a game like last night , Popov does have a tendency to wander and try shot's from miles out...for my money LR is the better defender of the two.

No co-incidence as soon as we get the spine of our team back we get back to winning ways.

We can play better than that in an attacking sense but the run we were on it was all about getting a win whatever the cost. Yacob and Mulumbu - we cannot afford to be without them.

Foster immense, Long worked his socks off and tired the defenders for Lukaku to eploit.

Superb.

If you want to attack a game you use Popov if you want to play more defensively minded then Ridgewell is your man

I do like Billy Jones and think they are both pushing each other hence the improvement in Jones and the excellent gamne Reidhad last night.

If im honest I do prefer Reid but im just as happy with Jones too

Reid retweeted the comment above.

It was directed at him, however Reid has stated that he's had worse comments. I suspect nothing will be done about it, but that's Reid's call.

The person who originally tweeted it has deleted his account.

FOSTER 10, GMAC 9, MULUMBU 9, the rest 6 reality check needed i think as for majority of the game we were poor, never seen Yacob give the ball away as much, dont wanna pee on our bonfire as I enjoyed the win as much as anyone. Now a scouser knows how it feels to be mugged !

Until the FA takes retrospective action against these clowns then it will just contine ad hoc.
If anyone dives for a penalty then the retrospective action should be that the team awarded the penalty should loose the points.

I don't see why retrospective video evidence can't be used on a charge of ungentlemanly conduct,  as far as I'm aware that's still in the rules.  Ban/fine the player, can't really change the results or dock points.

they did against spurs but need a longer run together.

Yes indeed, they looked very good together against Spurs. They both seem to need the support of another striker to be at optimum performance.

He is a joke ..and slowly but surley getting found out....

He admits to diving gets publicly slated by his own manager but still continues..even after last nights theatricals, BR said it looked a very soft penalty...

Referee was in a good position but bottled it infront of the KOP......fair play to Ollson for not going mad, no point everyone could see he dived, even on the Reds webpages they said the same thing....

Best answer was save the penalty, score 2 goals, go above them, smile, shake hands and return to gods country !!!!

BOING BOING !!!!!!

The most annoying part for me is that pundits justify it with this "well there's contact!" myth. Since when did contact warrant cheating?! Even if theres contact,it's either a foul or it isn't. Just because someone's arm is glancing your back doesn't mean you can throw yourself over with your arms in the air like youve been shot!

So glad justice was done but on another day it wont be. Just call it what it is,cheating!
