Paul Cook resigns as Wigan Athletic manager.
Ex Dingle  know but did a great job there, what a mess Wigan are in!
He's in line for Bristol City apparently.

I can’t read the whole article. Is this to do with selling the stadium?  Is this a similar situation that Derby might get punished for? If so, have the vile missed out being punished ?

The sale of the ground is not the issue. It’s the declaring of the sale in a previous set of accounts to circumvent FFP

Random question - why are they bothering to play the Championship play-off final at Wembley?

I suppose it’s for the showpiece element. Allows hem to say all big games take place at Wembley.

I do agree though, seems daft.

With either Cook or Hughton, Bristol City should do well next season. Not great that they can’t seem to decide on what style of manager they want though, aren’t they polar opposites? One an attacking flair manager with the other a defensive battler?

It has to be a neutral venue....and assume there's a contract for Wembley to stage it which has to be honoured (money comes into it even with no fans).

Fascinated to see where he ends up next. He's done an amazing job there, even if he has had a poor last couple of years. Would prefer him to get a prem job next, but a lot of top championshio sides will now be looking at him.

Hughton, Cook and Howe all available. I'd hate to be a championship manager at an underperforming club right now.

Or a premiership team manager that luckily avoided relegation,

Wembley has to be paid for, hence the contract for all games such as semi finals to be played there!
I remember the all Welsh national league final between Wrexham and Newport being played there a week or so after the semis. This was because the champions league final was being played there and no games were allowed 2 weeks prior to it. There was a crowd of about 15k, whereas if the game at been played in the Midlands it would have been probably double, but no it had to be at Wembley.

Howe to villa is possible, they won’t be after the other two.....but I thought villa had agreed to take Bruno ...Portuguese manager.

That would be worrying if Villa got Howe. He's a very good manager and compared to Dean Smith is a magician. On their budget he could really improve them.

Name a player he has spent big on that has looked better under him?
I don’t think he’s all that at all, and if they took him I’d be quite happy .
I really wish the6 would get Pardew 😄

Howe failed dismally the last time he ‘stepped up’ and got a job with Burnley. He’s very much a one man one club and I don’t think he will cut it anywhere else.

A bit torn on who I want to win tonight, my grandad was a Fulham fan, so they have always been a club I had a soft spot for (sorely tested by the 6-0), but I like Brentford's style.  On the other hand, if Brentford miss out we could be in for Watkins...

Not keen on either but Fulham for me.
My old accountant was for some reason a Brentford fan an secondly we could try for Watkins.

The tears of Brentford will taste sweet. Both tin pot nothing clubs.

From some of the press coverage for tonight's game I was beginning to think Brentford were playing Brentford.

It looks like I'm the only person rooting for Brentford....

I think they've been brilliant this season - yes, their manager is a bit of a weapon, but the way they play footballing is a joy to see. They also have a loyal predominantly working class fanbase and aren't one of these tourist clubs (like Fulham).

Would prefer Fulham as Brentford's manager and fans seem like utter helmets and I back Parker to be awful as a manager in the Premier League

I feel sorry for Brentford fans in a way to be honest. I'm sure they don't really know what to make of all the hype their club is attracting, the majority will be a little embarrassed, no doubt, and the rest will "believe" they are big time Charlies, just waiting to qualify for the Champions League, sound familiar? Most clubs have them.

But, I have to say, I think Brentford would pose the bigger threat to us in that tier of the Premier League we will be competing in no doubt
