Steve Cooper on SSN says forest are still working on deals and expect to bring more in. They've signed 18 players already!

Since you have to name a 25 man squad in the premier league, that's almost all of Forests squad from last year either moving on or not able to play league games.

They lost a lot of players as they were on loan, or people like their keeper who left

#nffc are closing in on Blackpool winger Josh Bowler, who is now travelling down for a medical. Fee of just over £4m agreed, plus a few add-ons. Will be signing number 2️⃣0️⃣ of the summer if it all goes through.

There must be a helluva lot of players at Forest looking to move on. They can't all play or even make the bench. Surely there must be some quality there which would meet our criteria.

Forest have been awful with how they have handled this window. Totally scattergun, they have bought an entire new squad.

Bowler is by all accounts a cracking player l, one of the best wide men in the division, but Forest don't need him.

Forest have done this every year under the new owner and largely signed absolute rubbish or people they simply didn't need and ended up with massively bloated squads that underperformed. I'd guess quite a bit of the business done this window has been owner lead, his ego going to his head again.

They lucked in to Cooper being available and righting them, as well as their loans performing well alongside their academy players (if nothing else, they do have a strong academy). But they are not a well run club at all. The system they have in the club that has consistently failed in the permanent transfer market hasn't changed, they've just spent 150m on it this time.

They're like the opposite side of the coin to us. No real planning, just chaotic.

Going through their squad, the only players I recognise from last season are:

Worrall
McKenna
Cook
Colback
Yates
Arter
Cafu (no, not that one)
Johnson
Surridge
Walker

Looking through that list, I think Worrall, McKenna, Yates, Colback and Johnson were regular starters for them, so they have lost a massive chunk of their squad for one reason or another.

Neco Williams and Johnson won't have to be registered as they are 21, not sure about Gibbs-White, O'Brien and Biancone

Edit: Just looking at Transfermarkt, and their total minutes by player is interesting:

Johnson (Stay)
McKenna (Stay)
Yates (Stay)
Worrall (Stay)
Samba (Gone)
Spence (Gone)
Garner (Gone)
Colback (Stay)
Zinckernagel (Gone)
Grabban (Gone)
Figeueiredo (Gone)
Lower (Gone)
Cook (Stay)
Davis (Gone)
Lolley (Gone)

Those are all players who played over 1000 minutes. 6 are still with them, 9 have left for one reason or another.

Well that could get awkward if they don’t stay up.

Ian Dennis (BBC) says 15 players have left Forest this summer. I can't see how that works. There's a limit on how many players you can loan in any one season. Or were the rest just sold/retired?

surely some of those players would have been loanees returning to parent clubs and then players like Grabban who wouldn't sign new contracts.

Rumours Sheff Utd are looking 20 year old Canada international Ismael Kone as a replacement for Berge. They seem to be getting smarter since Wilder left. Some great signings this summer.

Yes, the likes of Garner, Zinckernagel were on loan. They sold Samba and someone else, and released most of the others

How twisted football transfers and finances have become . It looks as though Garner from ManUtd is going to cost a fair bit more than Brighton are going to pay for Billy Gilmour !!

In fairness I’d say garner has proven more than Gilmour to date (although I don't know what the reported difference in cost is).

Pelkas is more of an attacking midfielder by the sounds of it, but an interesting loan none the less.

Galling to see some of the transfers our rivals are making even on the last day. Hull getting Harvey Vale on loan, arguably the Chelsea's academys most rated player in his age group - and a versatile midfielder who's capable of filling in at full back. Would have been perfect here. I doubt anyone at the club have heard of him.

Instead we're stuck relying on Bruce's phonebook.

Kongolo loaned out by Fulham to Ligue 2 Le Havre.  Wonder if they or us with Josh Onahmah got the better of the Fulham players.
