West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: John Swift

I don’t believe Swift cannot be bothered, it’s simply his style and since his injury he is struggling to find form.

I will however reiterate the point that the squad is not good enough and that includes Swift.
I think using the injury that he had over a year ago to explain his dreadful performances is stretching it.

Results keep falling into place for us. Nobody wants these play off spots.

We really need to put a consistent run together.

Totally agree however,  on current evidence,  consistency and Tony Mowbray are strange bedfellows.
We need to tighten up at the back and start to create and convert more chances.

Really pleased he got on the pitch today.
It gives us another option up front.
For now his minutes need to be managed but I'd like to see him getting 30 mins or so against Oxford.

Well we got away with that. Another really poor performance. Still in 6th place though.

Another save by Wildsmith. We’re all over the place, changes have done nothing for us
Do they ever?

Swift and Dike on. Armstrong and Diangana off

Strange
Tony seems to be doing very random things
This is what is really concerning me....it's difficult to see any game plan.

2 great saves from Wildsmith in quick succession.

I'd be thinking about bringing Grant on for Diangana to go wide left and allowing Armstrong to play behind Lankshear

Half time. We got slightly better after our goal but we've been pretty awful otherwise.
Hopefully Mowbray has a plan for the second half.
We need to get Lankshear and Armstrong closer to each other and start getting accurate balls into the box.
Defence and midfield really need to improve.

Why are we leaving out Fellows and Johnstone, although Wallace is a decent enough right winger. Not sure about playing Armstrong wide. He's more of a striker/goal thief.

me either but Mowbray did play him there quite often when Blackburn were in league 1 (although that was 6/7 years ago!).

Surely he can’t be watching the same games as us , with this selection, and Dike should have been given more game time for the u21s before being in the squad.

He should be giving the Italian a go at full back . If we lose today I’m thinking shades of Steve Bruce .

He was atrocious at Fleetwood, constantly out of position, didn't stop a cross all night, he hasn't looked particularly good in the brief minutes he's had since then.
There's a reason he hasn't been played more often by our coaches.
He is what he is, a Serie B player.

Asa Hartford. Superb midfielder, often overlooked.

Most bizarre criticism ever award goes to,

That side couldn't stop conceding goals , at one point we had the record amount for a title winning side .
For me it's making a valid point that under Mowbray we concede a lot of goals.  Unfortunately we don't have a comparable strike force to when we won the title with him in charge so probably going to lose a lot more games.

Hope we’ll get a reaction to Wednesday night but we always struggle at Millwall. One player who never plays well against them is Wallace. Even when he was at his best for us as soon as we played them he disappeared. What’s the betting he’s in the starting 11!

As you rightly say Wallace never performs against Millwall.

If Ajayi is fit I'd start him alongside Holgate and move Heggem to LB, otherwise I'd start the same team as Wednesday night.

The overreaction on here is ridiculous, one week we win everything is ok next week we lose he needs sacking !how can you seriously judge him after 5 games with players he has inherited . I’ve seen some comments on here comparing him to Bruce the bloke who would have got us relegated to league 1 !we’re also still in the top 6 !I have every faith now he has give certain players another chance he’ll find his best 11 and we’re be ok ,we always knew there would be teething problems with a new manager !

I had my concerns when he came back and they appear to be well founded but yes, we can't really judge him until he has had a chance to bring players in that are more suited to his style of play.

I don't share your optimism that he he'll find a best 11 with what he has inherited though.

At the start of the season I predicted we'd finish 7-12 and I still think that we'll finish around 10th.

Mowbray should have the players in EVERY morning to encourage/ tell them how to play. No time off!

You don't think the way Mowbray has set us up has anything to do with the poor performance / results then?

Awful. We've gone from having one of the best defences in the league to that.
When Mowbray took over I did say that I hoped he'd learned to organise a defence in the last 16 years but it appears not.

We are having plenty of the ball but creating next to no real chances.
Although both Fellows and Johnston were disappointing, I do think that they were taken off too early.
Putting Armstrong out wide left was just so poor.

We should be grateful its not like in German stadiums. There you've got a constant flow of people collecting snacks and drinks during the game, with the inevitable visits to the loo to follow. At least here the snack bars are shut during the game so you only have to get up from your seat at the start and tail end of the 2 halves.
Food and drink is available throughout the first half  it's only after half time that they shut.

So it'll be 12.30 on Sat 1st. Better than a rearranged midweek night fixture I guess.

Tickets should have been on sale today but obviously had to wait until the Cup result. Either later this week or maybe next Monday when Burnley tickets go on sale.

I'm detecting a sense of humour failure. Imagine my surprise  ;D .

Probably... been at work since 07.15 and need a 'pick me up' coffee.
