1985/86 was a big year for me, just leaving school and branching out on my own, looking forward to away games with the lads. Trouble was, we were absolutely shocking and that is still the worst year ever for me. We won 4 games all season and were on the end of a few 4 and 5 goal thrashings. The only highlight that whole year was we beat Blues home and away ( I was at both). So much hope shattered and the beginning of a steady decline. Never put me off though and, to be honest, the next 10 years were my happiest as a supporter, even though we were rubbish, I had an absolute ball and made memories that I'll take with me to the grave.
My last bastion of hope for this year is that, whilst relegation is inevitable, we can replicate doing the double over another local rival, starting on Saturday.
Whatever happens though, I've been through worse and survived and am still as passionate as ever.
They can take our points, they can take our Premier League status, but they'll never take our freeeeeedom.
