Was it Rangers or Celtic who sort of destroyed Birmingham city centre many years ago before a friendly at I think seal park?

Rangers, the end of the long hot summer of 76. I was in the city centre that day, very scary.

"West Brom grounded this pre-season"

A good read from Matt Wilson and a sensible approach by Darren, given our circumstances

As others have said it was Rangers. A couple of my cousins came down from Glasgow and we went together. I remember being hit by the stench of alcohol from well outside the ground. The match had to be abandoned a few minutes into the second half. Mayhem.

If as reported we are not leaving the country for our pre-season, strange that Union Berlin's website still advertising a game on 21st July in Berlin.
https://www.fc-union-berlin.de/de/fussball/profis/spielplan/detail/-1-FC-Union-Berlin-West-Bromwich-Albion-11171n/

Would seem along way to go for just one friendly.
Union are also down to play QPR and Stoke. That would tie in with the Stokie's annual trip to Germany (they seem to have some ties with the city of Hamburg).
I may email Union Berlin to see what their angle on it is.

Looks like a home based pre season and a training camp in Portugal

https://www.wba.co.uk/news/2018/may/first-pre-season-fixtures-confirmed/

I don't suppose anyone ITK has any idea which training camp in Portugal they are using? I'm based in the Algarve and would be good to pop along for an afternoon if anyone has info.

The club are taking the sensible approach with regards to pre-season as we don't know how many players we are going to have when we start training so no point arranging lots of games if we don't have enough players to play in them.

I looked at flights for Aberdeen on Skyscanner the day the fixture was announced. Just checked for Exeter and it's cheaper to fly form there to Aberdeen for an over nighter than it is from Birmingham International. Money grabbing b@st@rds  >:( .

Alternately it's only £10.10 on the Megabus from Brum to Aberdeen and £33 return.

Only drawback being it leaves at 02:35 hrs and doesn't get there until 12:50 hrs....... hmmmm......

...... with the return departing at 07:05 hrs and getting back for 18:05....... tempted, especially with the B+B costing about £35 for the overnight.

Nice one '58 and cheers, that 02:30 hrs start and ten hour journey wasn't going to happen.

Made a beginners mistake by looking for trains to Aberdeen from New St via my local station.

Train and B+B booked, early morning taxi to Brum it is then.

Must be mad, COYB  8) .
