Diversity Day
« on: September 26, 2017, 11:02:25 AM »
Proud to see the club setting this up, which in my view is long overdue.  Looking forward to the drumming in particular which might be good to have in the ground more generally?  Great to have the three degrees out as well before the match which might even bring a tear to my eye.

Three degrees being honoured at West Brom's diversity day

Legendary Albion players Cyrille Regis and Brendon Batson will be joined by members of the late Laurie Cunningham’s family on The Hawthorns pitch before the home game with Watford.

The Baggies are honouring the ‘Three Degrees’ – Albion’s iconic black trio from the 1970s and 80s – to celebrate equality and togetherness on their Diversity Day.

Regis, Batson, and Cunningham helped break down racial barriers in football when they played for the Albion, but they are not the only people being celebrated on Saturday, August 30.

A new LGBT supporters’ group called ‘Proud Baggies’ is being launched on the day and will offer support and advice to any gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and trans supporters of the club.

There will also be Indian dhol drummers and Chinese dragons around the ground to celebrate the club’s international fans.

Punjabi supporters’ group Apna Albion, which was set up earlier this year, will also have a presence on the day.

The theme for the day is 'Together We Are Albion', and will celebrate the rich combination of cultures and communities which come together under the blue and white-striped banner.

The Baggies host Watford on Saturday, August 30. Kick-off is 3pm.
