Fine him two weeks wages, stick him in the reserves for the rest of the season and upto him then. Get someone like Anichebe or Cyrille to give the big rollocking he needs.
Good shout

If he's not careful he'll get a reputation and then no matter how minor an incident he's involved in, the press will keep on raking things up. He may be past that point already!
He is only a kid doing what kids do and really needs someone to help mentor him and help with his direction ... but it needs to start from Saido. Come on lad you can do better than this.

Did anyone catch the comments from Dean Kiely from the Beeb text commentary today?
I wonder if he had anyone particular in mind?  :-X

BBC Radio 5 live summariser Dean Kiely at Goodison ParkEverton 2-0 Arsenal

"Lukaku has detached himself from the centre-halves and has been out further wide on the right, closer to Monreal, to allow Naismith to mooch around. I couldn't help smile to myself at that goal as all of last season I saw that from him at West Brom. It was a devastating finish with the left foot. Outstanding.

"In this day and age of celebrity footballers, Romelu just wants to play football. He challenged us as coaches every day. He wants to do better. He would want to know from me each week about each goalkeeper. He will be a top-top player for many years to come."

Appears like he has little interest in our club or his own career ...

Best way he could deal with this (for everybody) is to stick a couple in the back of the net and lay another on for JM today! COYB

He said he wanted to move past this and hope the fans understand that he isnt "rebelling", he just wants the game at norwich to prove he is grateful for his chance
If that was really the case then why provoke further reaction further through Twitter?

If anything the club and Mel are responsible for this. We all knew we didn't have the players to suit the style Mel wanted to play so surely those that appointed him knew this so why did they appoint him in the first place? Then I would have thought Mel would know enough about the squad before taking the job to know the players weren't capable of playing a game with such a high line so why persist with trying?

Fact of the matter for me is the club made a massive mistake hiring Mel in the first place and if we had carried on trying to play that way under Mel we would have stood no chance. Changing style gives us a chance even though a few may say it is too late.

Don't get me wrong some, if not most of these players have a hell of a lot to answer for with their role in us being in trouble but there will be a few who will do all they can to try and keep us in the league and if that meant making it clear they couldn't play that way then so be it.

While Mel is here we need to get fully behind him which most of us have. I feel for the bloke as he is the scapegoat and on to a loser by the look of things if we go down. However we must remember if we go down we shouldn't be pointing the finger at Mel but those that appointed him in the first place and the players who were already failing under the previous style of play that saw us with previous high league finishes.
Amen to that.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Anelka and the 'Quenelle' gesture
« on: March 15, 2014, 09:32:48 AM »
Not unreasonable for the club (and the supporters) to expect an apology given all the negativity that this brought to us. It seems the arrogance of the man cannot see there are far bigger issues than his personal pride to address as a consequence of his actions. Take it elsewhere Mr Anelka!

It would be nothing short of a disgrace if we were to sack Mel. He has been brought in to a totally disfunctional club with an ageing squad of underperforming players mingled with inexperienced youth.

He is a man of honour and integrity who to my eyes has been badly let down by his players and the club. If the club decides to scapegoat him now then like someone else has said, I would have to think seriously about whether I can continue to support this regime and these players.

Albion are in my heart, but even I have to draw the line somewhere.
Pretty much my feelings also  :'(

Yes Stoke and Adam are 'vigorously contesting' the charge. He'll probably get off knowing his luck - his earlier jump for a header leading with a raised foot was dodgy as well....he must practise all this stuff.
3 match ban!  :D

Charlie Adam up to his tricks again - trod on Giroud's calf when could have easily avoided him is the word.
He's the sneakiest dirty git in the prem - and he seems to get off lightly with most of it.

The only change needed was the one that has been made. Mel in Clarke out. This squad is good enough to stay up. Aside from Fulham (who also lost their best player) no-one has greatly strengthened despite bringing in multiple players.
I'm not always in line with your views Jacko but on this one I'm 100% in agreement.

I was hopeful of better but I suppose we should not be surprised that Downing will likely just try to reinforce the "good things" he has seen in last 12 months so the style will be pretty much similar

Not too far from my feelings Dexy though I thought he might get Christmas to put things right.
Maybe he did not "really" want to ... if as has been suggested there has been tension then quite possibly his own drive and spirit had waned and this was passing on to the players.
All history now, so thanks for the good bits Steve clearly a thoroughly decent bloke, good luck for the future.
