I've got back and watched that goal over and over and, as with most goals, it's not down to one individual mistake but many, and it's frightening how easy it was for Huddlesfield, and how disorganised we were.
I recommend anyone watches the YouTube video of the highlights on the official site:
0:03 - HTFC player has the ball on the right wing, but has checked back.
Clarke is getting back into the defensive line, Mowatt is over towards the ball and is covering the pass into the centre while Livermore is closer to the centre of the pitch. There's a big gap in front of our defence and our midfield pair are split, but HTFC pose little threat due to Mowatt's position and Townsend's pressure on the ball.
0:05 - HTFC right back (I think) has received the ball from the winger.
Back three aren't in line - Kipre is deeper and Bartley is higher. Livermore is roughly in line with Kipre, so I'd say he's 5 yards further from the ball than he needs to be. Diangana has dropped back to help but isn't cutting off the pass to the central player. Likewise, the pass means Mowatt needs to adjust his position to cover that central player.
There's still a big gap in front of the defence.
0:06 HTFC player fakes to pass back to the defence, which triggers Diangana to take a step up the pitch and away from the midfielder. If he arcs his run to cover the pass, the ball through is cut off. He does not. Mowatt closes the ball but doesn't arc his run to cut the pass either.
0:07 - Pass is made, removing both Diangana and Mowatt from the action, and exposing our entire back line.
Livermore checks his shoulder and knows they have an overload on the left, so is hesitant to go to the ball carrier. At least the rest of the back line have formed a better offside line.
0:09 - The HTFC midfielder has walked the ball towards our defence and is about to make a pass.
TGH has dropped off his man, negating any offside trap (though it's hard to tell if he was off as Bartley has also dropped deeper). There's two free HTFC players on the left which means Livermore hasn't closed down the ball carrier.
Mowatt is pointing (and possibly shouting) at Clarke where the defender is running, because he can't see that Kipré has just to play the offside line but TGH is too deep.
0:12 - HTFC player is through on goal but hasn't had to take a touch. TGH has, from a position of being too deep, now found himself on the wrong side of his man and can't recover in time (looks like he gets shrugged off by the attacker).
Once the attacker decides to cross not shoot, the damage has been done.
I myself blamed TGH, but when you break it down, it's several errors that cost us, but particularly Diangana, Mowatt and to an extent Livermore have to share the blame for letting a midfielder receive and the ball and dribble 15 yards towards our box unchallenged
