Not sure how fair it is to use VAR at selected grounds only, should be all or nothing

Not sure how fair it is to use VAR at selected grounds only, should be all or nothing
Come on oldbury surely by now you know football is all about the premier league big boys and giving them every extra advantage possible
-
Not sure how fair it is to use VAR at selected grounds only, should be all or nothing
Bit short sighted mate, expecting the Premier League bosses to be fair
-
So the draw is on Friday, because we finished bottom we are in Round 1, Southern Section, ball number 32.
Who do you want?
-
So we've got Luton Town at home.
-

-
Mansfield Town ( H )
-
They beat Accrington Stanley 6-1 to get through.
We only managed to get 3 past Accrington, when we played them last.
We are notorious about losing to lower teams.
About time we turned things around.
-
we'd have played Middlesbrough away if we had got passed Palace, not a bad draw really, still 6 non prem teams in it aswel.
-
Boro 0 Burton 1...on borrowed time...
-
Burton Albion 0-1 Man City
Through to the final and will meet either Tottenham or Chelsea
-
We'll be ball 33 in tomorrow’s Carabao Cup first round draw

Honestly, I can't believe they didn't scrap it for this year... With the condensed dates for the regular season, the FA Cup and the farcicle international break that they have also still elected to keep this year, I really thought we'd not have this cup.

Its an entry to Europe cup competition thats why
They could scrap it and give the European slot to the side who finish 6th place in the league instead.
From what I can gather, the reason it doesn't get scrapped is that it is still a bit if a money spinner for league 1 and 2 clubs who can get bumper pay days from the progression bonuses and the chance of drawing a Man Utd or Chelsea.
Still, would have thought the Prem and Championship clubs might have pushed for it this season.

2nd and 3rd round ties to be drawn on Sunday on Sky.

-
We’re ball number 25 in the north section of today’s @Carabao_Cup Round Two draw.
-
We'll face Harrogate Town at The Hawthorns in the second round of the Carabao Cup Trophy
-
Is it our First ever meeting ?
-
Harrogate Town in 2nd round, Southampton or Brentford in 3rd round.
Full draw here:

-
Cheltenham already 1 down at Millwall. Griffiths in goal, Azaz on the bench.
-
Impressed with Adebayo Akinfenwa and Paul Cook’s pundit input tonight, so far.
And looks like KP is using Grecian 2000 ;D
-
Lincoln 2 up inside 7 minutes away at Bradford, winners host Liverpool.
Palmer and Morton have both started the game.
-
Azaz has scored at Millwall. 3-1.
Lincoln 3-0 up now at Bradford.
-
Burton 1-0 Villa. 1 min.
-
To be fair, the vile haven’t put their strongest side out 😂😂😂
-
Debut goal for Watkins 3 yard tap in. 1-1.
-
1-1 Watkins!
-
Palmer getting rave reviews..Lincoln 4-0 up..
-
Grealish carrying villa as usual. Watkins doesn't look anything special but like all good finishers right place right time to bag. Though he has missed another sitter since
-
Ryan Fraser scores on his Newcastle debut. They lead Moggas Blackburn Rovers.
-
Morton slots a stoppage time 5th for Lincoln. Clean sheet for Palmer 0-5.
-
Brentford who have only named 5 substitutes lead a very strong Southampton XI by 2 gials to nil at St Mary's, we face the winners.
-
Into stoppage team Stoke ahead against a very strong D1ngle5 line-up ;D
-
If we beat Brentford we have got Fulham or Sheff W in the 4th round at home
-
If we beat Brentford we have got Fulham or Sheff W in the 4th round at home
Can’t grumble at that draw and home again
-
Not a bad draw at all!
-
Surely have to target this now.
-
Surely have to target this now.
Decent draws but still the thought of us winning it or getting to the final without being able to be there makes me feel sick inside ???

Will be well back in the grounds by March or whenever the final is.
-
Will be well back in the grounds by March or whenever the final is.
Hopefully mate, although I can’t see us winning next week if we play the same team as yesterday.
-
If we beat Brentford we have got Fulham or Sheff W in the 4th round at home
Another kind draw we need to take these cup games seriously
-
Not only that lincoln/liverpool v arsenal or leciester
Milwall/burnley v man city or bournemouth
Fleetwood/everton v west ham or hull
Orient/spurs v chelsea or Barnsley
Preston/brighton v luton or man united
Plenty of potential upsets in round 3 and 4the round plenty of all prem draws in a worst case.
Kind home draw again we need to target this competition.
-
A good run in this competition would be a strong foundation for the team in other competitors as well as providing opportunities for less frequently used squad members.
-
Albion will face Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, September 22.
The tie will kick-off at 7pm at The Hawthorns.

Be just our luck to get to the final and it's played behind closed doors ???

That's my sister's birthday. Radio Albion with a few beers it is then. I wasn't going to see the horrible mare bag anyway ;D .
-
I believe these can be purchased to stream similar to Championship matches last season. So I'll be doing that.
-
I think I'll probably put the money towards a few extra cans and stick with the radio.

Will you be drinking to remember or forget? Asking for the sister of a guy on a football forum ;)

Bit of a cheek charging £10 for the Carabao Cup, that's a match day ticket price.
No ta.
-
Labadie on the winning Newport side that beat Watford ( complete with Dawson) 3-1..

Good value that as I've not had to troop 110 miles home in a terrible mood.

Don’t you just miss the live match day experience ;D
-
Ho hum. It happened.
-
Strong Liverpool side against the Imps..Alex in goal but no sign of Callum even on the bench..
-
You don't save them. Unlucky son.
-
Palmer had no chance with any of the 3 goals. Liverpool cruising.
-
Should have saved the 6th although it looks as though the defender was clearing it.
-
Should have saved no. 7 too. Feel sorry for the lad now.
-

Hopefully this doesnt damage his development by destroying his confidence

Fulham 3-0 down to Brentford after 80 mins..
-
Fulham 3-0 down to Brentford after 80 mins..
Lost. 3-0Even better news.... At the moment the vile lot are losing to Stoke.
-
Oh dear
FT
Vile 0-1 Stoke :D
-
I have watched a lot of the league cup this year and overall for the neutral games I have enjoyed them more than the pl games- mainly because no VAR
Still bitter we didnt get past brentford as I think we would have also put Fulham to sword and be looking a quarter final.
-
I like the lack of a replay to be fair. Teams put out a weakened side then they are getting punished for it. No 'lets get em back home and field the first xi' nonsense.
-
Liverpool lose on penalties to Arsenal
-
Man City into their 4th consecutive final and of the last 8 finals they've been in 6 :o
-
Forgot all about this, anyway with an obvious air of inevitability City win their 4th on the trot.
Reserve team Cup won by a team who have got 2 first teams... again.
-
Spurs 2 shots and 1 on target all game. Was Mourinho still coaching?
-
The second round draw for the Carabao Cup will be made after the completion of tonight’s first round matches.
Albion are ball number 22
-
Are we in the south section just to even up the numbers?!
-
Are we in the south section just to even up the numbers?!
They've split the West Midlands clubs. Us and Blues South, Villa and Wolves North. May have been some police input. Not sure they're keen on an evening derby with fans newly returned to the ground.
-
Norwich destroyed Bournemouth
-
Not that many years ago, the early league cup rounds would produce lots of low key upsets.
This year, Villa reserves have won 6-0, Wolves reserves won 4-0, Norwich reserves won 6-0, while Leeds and Brentford scored 3 each.
It feels like the gap has widened. Either that or nobody takes the league cup seriously anymore.

I suspect it's also because the lower league teams are increasingly inclined to play their Reserves too! They might as well rename it to the "Carabao Underbelly Cup"!

Yep, it’s become a really boring competition now. Certainly a case of the gap widening.
Those Bradford, Grimsby, Yeovil and Doncaster cup runs of yesteryear seen an awfully long time ago.

Man City 0-1 Wycombe!!! Come on you Blues..

Two ex-Baggies have both bagged 4 goals tonight. Must be some sort of record.

QPR beat Everton on pens 8-7

plus a charlie austin double
-
Really looking forward to all the posts about how we let our young ones go, should have held onto the older ones and those lamenting the loss of Rodriguez. A while ago.

I know J Rod was one, who was the other?

Marcus Forss.

Lots of positives from an England perspective from the Man City league cup win.
Having watched the highlights, City's defence was entirely made up of English qualified defenders from their youth academy, which considering Taylor-Bellis is out on loan in Belgium is impressive and encouraging.
Phil Foden scored 1 and set up 2, seemingly being deployed in a deeper, more creative role than usual.
It was all topped off by teenager Cole Palmer scoring a great first goal for the club, running from the half way line unopposed and sweeping it into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
-
Marcus Forss.
Thanks Smeth. Forms will always be a strange one. Was third or fourth in the pecking order when he left. Shows how hard it is to work out who will develop.
-
What an entertaining 0-0 this final has been. Currently in extra time
-
Hilarious. They replace Mendy with Kepa because he is a shootout specialist. He fails to save all 11 penalties and then misses the decisive one. Ouch.
-
Mendy must be really hacked off...had a fabulous game ..might aswell have been replaced by the kitman...
-
Served him right for acting like a right idiot in 2019 the keeper when he refused to come off
-
Was an enjoyable game for a 0-0 in all fairness. Not a classic by any stretch but never bored me.
-
I'd never seen so many disallowed goals in a game - four if I remember correctly.
shame there had to be a winner between either of those clubs to be honest.
-
Thought Keita should have got a red when he went in against Chaloba. Based on what I've seen from Championship referees this season I'm supremely confident he'd have walked had he been an Albion player.
