Bit of energy, bite and ability in the centre of the park. What we have been lacking for a while now.

Sounds like Conor Gallagher has opted for #wba over PL rivals. Very exciting addition in my book. Will bring energy to the midfield. #wba"

Another loanee we will come to rely on, who will then go onto better thing leaving us with a gaping hole to fill.

He was very good for them at our place. I noticed him straight away.

True but if he helps keep us up we have more money next year to fill the glaring gaps. We are back in yo-yo club land.

Rather sign good players on loan than go down without a fihgt.

We need Livermore to keep Gallagher quiet. He is their dangerman, making them tick.

I called for it a couple of weeks back and would welcome the move with open arms. Very impressed by him this season.

Perhaps Chelsea want to see him in a better side and are potentially looking toward us loaning him for a season in the Premier League next season if it is a success.

Wanted him in January when Chelsea brought him back from Charlton

If we are going to play 2 in midfield he'll be alongside Livermore not Sawyers.

To be honest we need Livermore, Sawyers and Gallagher in a midfield 3, playing 2 in midfield just means us getting overrun.

Slav is almost totally reliant on Sawyers for the tempo of the team, if we continue with a 2, or add Krov to make up a 3, your mate will be on the bench.

Sawyers is more likely to be bench warming than Livermore. If Bilic relies on him so much why was he subbed off yesterday?

would it not be a triangle with Sawyers at the point, linking defensive unit with attack? Would play to Sawyers strengths and give us solidity in behind him !

Sawyers, Gallagher and Livermore may line up together at some points, but I’d be very surprised if Bilic spends much time with a midfield including no Livermore or Harper. Gallagher, Sawyers, Pereira and Krovinovic are all creative midfielders. Pereira and maybe even Gallagher have a bit of bite in their tackle, but it isn’t their natural game to shield the defence. I’ve said it a few times already, but when Mowbray tried to go a season with Brunt, Morrison, Valero, Koren and Teixeira, we were easy on the eye but ended up finishing bottom of the league. We only really clicked at the end of the season when we bought in Mulumbu, Dorrans and Menseguez, who all had clearly defined roles.

Bilic knows Livermore is the defensive midfielder in the team, so expect him to play alongside Gallagher, not be replaced by him.

Excited for Gallagher to join. If he could bring Tomori, Chilwell, Havertz and Werner with him then I think we might be ok ;)

That never happened, Teixeira who you mention only started one PL game; the issue with Valero was Greening playing in the same position as him and Mowbray being unwilling to drop the captain, hopefully Slaven will not make the same mistake.

Gallagher is an immediate upgrade on Livermore in ALL aspects of his game.

Could turn out to be a very important signing. I personally think the best balance would be a three in the middle of midfield and it will be: Sawyers, Livermore and Gallagher/Krov

Who played defensive midfield under Mowbray then?

Don't really see how Gallagher would in anyway replace Livermore. He was a attacking midfielder for Charlton, and quite often fo Swansea. When he didn't play attacking midfield he was your classic box to box midfielder.

He'll be a good signing as he's far more of a creative threat than Sawyers/Livermore/Harper/Krovinovic combined but we'll need a few more of that ilk - but certainly no defensive midfielder, at least based off his first team career so far. Also seems a decent athlete which was something we sorely lacked yesterday.

Greening.

Pirlo greening - defensive ?? What are you drinking? Jesus had more turns than a roundabout and then dropped it off to someone else (more Sawyers esque than Gattuzo esque)

In 2008/09 Greening was the deepest midfielder under Mowbray insofar as he could be considered to use a DM it was him. He also played Valero deep and they ended up getting in each others way. Valero was clearly the better player but Mogga persisted with both, presumably because Jonno was skipper.

From a fellow pro,  Teammate Dean Kiely once described how Greening "sprays passes around like a quarterback" in Albion's style of attacking football under Tony Mowbray.

Valero is a seperate issue, which we could debate for hours, however, I defy anyone to compare Jesus with a DMF

He's not as good a passer.

Think Gallagher brings us a good option to play a midfield three and i wonder if his addition means the end of the pursuit for Krovinovic.

Sawyers has a high pass completion rate because it's all sideways and backwards.  His forward passing is no better than average.
