West Bromwich Albion FC / Who would be your first choice right back?
« on: August 05, 2014, 07:27:58 PM »
Who would be your first choice right back? I would go Gamboa as he is better going forward and good defensively.

West Bromwich Albion FC / First Choice Left Back

Who would be your first choice left back? I would opt for Davidson as he seems more defensively sound but gets forward well also.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Steven Reid - Pepe Mel
« on: March 08, 2014, 06:54:59 PM »
Did anyone else notice that Reid made every effort to refuse to shake Mel's hand when he went off, he swerved him first and then also blanked him twice.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Will there ever be another King or Bomber?
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:15:26 PM »
Are those days gone or could there ever be another local hero that is worshiped by all and goes on to be an Albion legend?

Apart from his personal issues I would say Hughsie is the closest we have had in the last couple of decades, I will never forget one of his first games at Crewe I believe.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Players to suit Mel's style
« on: January 12, 2014, 02:24:44 PM »
Who will play and who wont?

I would imagine the likes of Morrison, Gera and even Dorrans will play as they suit his style and the likes of Long, Brunt and Ridgewell will struggle to get games if replacements can be found.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Players not good enough
« on: December 07, 2013, 03:57:05 PM »
I am writing this at half time but whether we win by 5 or lose by 5 I will still feel the same.

The following players I feel are not up to a good enough standard:

Popov
Ridgewell
Brunt
Dorrans
Morrison
Long
Vydra
Rosenberg
Reid
Anelka

There are a few others but they have not played enough so I have excluded them.

The main point is do we have too many players that are purely not good enough to advance us to the next level that we need to get rid of to bring in transfer fees and release wages?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Best defence since........
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:13:15 PM »
Is the is best defensive unit we have had since Megson's first promotion seasons defence?

For me we just look extremely solid and I actually fully trust them unlike other seasons.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Formation

I really like the new 4-3-3 formation, it really gives us versatility and a real attacking threat.

Great start.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Pride or Points?
« on: February 04, 2012, 05:45:06 PM »
As I see it this is the problem.

We had a working 4-5-1 system last year that everyone understood their roles and won us a lot of points.

Roy really pushed for the Long signing and this is what has caused the issue.

He now has play Long as he pushed for his signing and we paid a very big fee for him but also he cannot drop Pete due to his goals, so what do we end up with, 4-4-2 and Roy has two choices. Either drop Pete or Long and go back to the 4-5-1 that works or be stubborn and let his pride get in the way and refuse to admit he is wrong.

Everyone knows 4-5-1 is the best option and I include Roy in that, so please dont continue with your pride and change things for the good of the club.

p.s. Also Pete is not a midfielder or a winger so dont play him there either please!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Chris Wood Joins Bristol City
« on: January 12, 2012, 10:35:51 AM »
http://www.wba.co.uk/page/News/0,,10366~2573130,00.html

CHRIS Wood has joined Bristol City on a youth loan until the end of the season.

The Baggies have the right to recall the 20-year-old striker after 28 days.

Wood joins the Championship Robins in 19th place, with former Albion skipper Derek McInnes as manager.

The Kiwi hitman's successful five-month loan spell at Blues came to an end last week.

He scored ten times in 14 starts and as many substitute appearances for the St Andrew's outfit and fired his first-ever professional hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Millwall in September.

Wood also sampled European competition for the first time and he will be fondly remembered at Blues for his last-gasp winner at Bruges in October.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Who should be the new Captain
« on: January 05, 2012, 06:59:31 PM »
There are other things to bear in mind like: Does Jonas want it, will Scharner play every game, is Mulumbu old enough, is shorey a big enough presence and has Foster been at the club long enough?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Most important transfers in January
« on: December 09, 2011, 04:42:57 PM »
The most important transfers in January are the outgoings, if we get all the dead wood like Bednar etc out the club this would provide transfer budget but more importantly extra wage budget, if we get this right then the quality/amount of players we bring in would improve.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Stubberdness
« on: October 01, 2011, 05:25:26 PM »
Pete and Long just dont work as it disrupts the rest of the formation. It needs to be changed before we get into trouble.

The question is will Roy admit it and change things or continue with it. Will he admit he is wrong. Should he stop being stubborn and change things?

47
West Bromwich Albion FC / The 4-4-2 problem
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:34:46 PM »
Roy has signed players to suit a 4-4-2 system and seems to be set on playing this formation now. This creates problems for us as a team.

We lack creativity with two defensive midfielders, also both of the wide players constantly play narrowly causing no width to our play to stretch teams, also our strength last year was our midfield dominance and now this has been lost due to the lack of bodies in there, one more forward means no creative midfielder.

If we are going to play 4-4-2 we need more width and creativity and sorry Morrison is not the player to provide this.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Who would sell?
« on: August 24, 2011, 11:08:57 AM »
JP has a gun to your head and says we must sell 5 backup players and 2 first team players who would you pick?

I would go for:

Backup:

Bednar
Fortune
Mattock
Cech
Pablo

First Team:

Mozza
Tamas

p.s. nobody under 21
