How we decide to play against Stoke will strongly influence the team selection for the game against Mansfield on Tuesday so working backwards I will pick MY team for the Stoke game first.

At home, we will need to take the game to Stoke. That's the way we are playing now anyway so it's just a case of what system we play. With Dawson back in the frame it does give us the option of playing four at the back again albeit with Dawson at right back. Would I go with four at the back or would I stick with the three?

For this game I would revert to four at the back. I saw Etebo play in the World Cup and he's a good player. He has legs and we will struggle in the middle of the park playing a two so I'd prefer to play three with Morrison playing at the top of the three but able to drop deeper when needed, with Barnes out wide. Sam Field in for Brunt even though I know Big Dave won't go that way. The only other question is Rodriguez, Robson-Kanu, Gayle or Burke up front? Can Gayle play up front on his own? Well it depends how we use him I suppose but with the likes of Morrison in behind and Barnes able to cut into the pockets inside I'd take a chance that he can and I'd go with him.

4-2-3-1

                                             Johnstone

Dawson               Bartley                                 Hegazi                 Gibbs

                          Livermore                             Field

Phillips                                   Morrison                                       Barnes

                                             Gayle

Subs: Myhill, Adarabioyo, Townsend, Brunt, Rodriguez, Burke, Robson-Kanu.

As you say, early for this with a game midweek but I would go:

Johnstone

Dawson
Hegazi
Barry

Phillips
Livermore
Field
Gibbs

Barnes

Rodriguez
Gayle

Myhill, Adarabioyo, Brunt, Harper, Morrison, Robson-Kanu, Burke

Interesting baggiebof. That's both of us using Barry in a back three sometime this coming week.  :o

Like I said on the Barry thread, he played there for Villa, will add balance at the back being a lefty, adds ability on the ball which we lack back there and as a seasoned midfielder will be adept at nicking into midfield and poaching the ball which you can do as part of a three.

Dawson Livermore Barry as a back three vs Mansfield
And if they look comfortable use it in the league

What I think Dave will do is...

                        Johnstone

Dawson.           Hegazi.           Bartley

 Phillips. Livermore.  Brunt.     Gibbs

                         Morrison
        JRod.                         Gayle

And if we lose it won't be good

Because we have looked awful against any half decent side this season?

Subs Myhill, Bartley, Townsend, Livermore, Morrison, Rodriguez, Burke

Obviously based on tomorrow's (tonight's) team. Hopefully the return to 4-3-3 is a success and Tosin gets a bit of confidence at right back.

All 11 players selected are extremely comfortable on the ball and up against a very poor side. Firepower on the bench if Stoke are more resilient than expected.

I would also like us to go back to 443
However I don't think tosin at rb is the answer we really need one in or Dawson will have to go there... We dropped a ball allowing nyom to go without a ready replacement.

I want Moore to break the Livermore brunt axis but I don't have faith that he will
O Albion we love you

Still 2826 tickets left for this. That's pretty disappointing I thought we'd sell better for the Stokies.

Last weekend of the summer hols.

That or many who stated they wanted their club back and would attend no matter what the division are full of pap.

I know which one my money's on  ;) .

Doubtless it is because they all know the script - 97 minutes on the clock, 0-0, James McClean shanks a shot, it turns into a cross and the ball, after wobbling agonisingly from one to the other, will come to nestle betwixt Fat Boy Dim's backside cheeks, from whence it will ejected Thai ping pong style into the net.

Think crouch will take our center halves to the cleaner's and if Darren persist's with Brunt in midfield then I can see only one winner 1-3 Stoke

Think he'll play 3412 but It wouldn't surprise me if he went to 442 with Mearse coming in at right back for young lad from man city and Bartley replaced by Dawson as we have given Hegazi a five year contract. Oh midfield and forward players the same. That's. Why I'm going for a 3-1 loss.
